Choose one central accusation or contrast, then support it with details, wordplay, and a refrain that makes the position unmistakable. Short lines can land like punches; a longer setup can make the final bar sharper. The best beat leaves the listener focused on the language.
Control the temperature
A sparse loop, hard snare, or clipped sample can give the vocal room. Use pauses and a change in register to mark the turn from setup to payoff. Competitive writing does not require threats or personal exposure. A clever rebuttal, self-definition, or precise critique can provide the tension.
