The last wave of technology made it easier for people to find and listen to music and we believe this next wave will make it possible for far more people to experience the joys of creating it. Our mission is to build the world’s best platform for music creation while contributing to a healthy and growing music ecosystem. From the beginning, we’ve held ourselves to a clear set of principles that help us make decisions in a fast-changing environment, always rooted in supporting artistry and creativity. In line with our commitment to the responsible use of generative AI, we are starting to roll out new transparency tools that align with emerging industry standards so songs generated on Suno can be identified if they are shared on other platforms.
As new AI transparency laws come into effect around the world, platforms with generative AI tools are being required to disclose when content has been generated with AI. Many platforms are choosing to meet these obligations using an industry standard technology called content credentials (C2PA). Content credentials are an invisible set of metadata attached to a piece of content that can help distribution platforms determine whether AI was used to create it, if they choose to use that information.
We know there are a lot of important conversations happening around AI transparency, and we want to provide more context about how these tools work. These changes will only apply to new songs that are downloaded on Suno going forward, not to songs that have already been downloaded from Suno.
Our goal is to improve transparency, while still protecting artists’ creative freedom and the ways they choose to use AI in their creative workflows. Ultimately we believe artists and platforms should decide how they want to discuss the use of AI tools with their audiences, and our role is to provide transparency tools. Content credentials are designed to help platforms meet their own transparency obligations, but they are not a judgment about the value, authenticity, or ownership of an artist’s work.
These tools also don’t change how a song sounds or affect ownership, instead they simply provide information that platforms can choose to use in their own discretion.

Why did Suno build this?
Transparency about AI-generated content matters to us and providing information about how a piece of content was created is an emerging industry standard. It’s also becoming a regulatory requirement in some jurisdictions. This tool is part of a broader set of safety and transparency commitments, which you can read about more in our Blog Post and Safety Center.
It’s important to note that this tool only applies to new songs that have been downloaded going forward, and not to songs that have already been downloaded from Suno. This detector tool only provides information to the person using it and does not get shared more broadly. The content credentials that a piece of content carries are an invisible signal that gives distribution platforms the information they need if they choose to label content.
What are content credentials?
Content Credentials are based on C2PA, an open industry standard used across the tech industry that shows where a piece of content came from and how it was made. When a song is downloaded from Suno, we attach metadata identifying it as AI-generated content made with Suno.
What is the purpose of this tool?
This tool lets anyone check whether a song carries Suno’s content credentials. You can upload an audio file or paste a public link, and we’ll tell you whether we find credentials showing it was made with Suno.
Can other tools read Suno’s content credentials?
Yes. Suno’s content credentials use C2PA, the same open standard used by other content companies. This means you don’t have to specifically use our tool to check a song. Any app or service that supports content credentials can read the label in a Suno file, and the label travels with the file wherever it’s shared.
