Here’s what’s new
MIDI
MIDI has been the most requested addition to Studio. Now, you can import, record and edit MIDI directly on the timeline, and design your own sounds with our new wavetable synth. Uniquely in Studio, MIDI clips can also be used as a prompt for new audio generations. And if you don’t have a MIDI controller, you can play notes using your typing keyboard.
Chat bar (beta)
Now you can chat with Studio like you would any other collaborator. Ask Chat to create instruments and vocals from scratch or collaborate with it to design new plugins unique to you. Chat understands music production so you can speak to it like you would any other member of the band. You can even ask it to tidy up your session!
Advanced stem separation
We’ve updated Studio with our latest advanced stem separation tool. This lets you extract stems with amazing audio fidelity, so you can break down and build a super clean mix using the component parts of the song. Bring audio in from outside Suno, split it into stems, and use Studio to arrange and rearrange your songs like never before.
Audio effects & Studio plugins
Possibly the most exciting thing about Studio is the ability to use audio effects and design your own plugins. In addition to the factory devices, including sidechain compression and convolution reverb, you can create your own plugins from scratch using the chat bar. At launch, creating new plugins won't require credits, though a credit structure may be introduced in the future.
Automation
For the first time, we’ve built automation in Studio. Now you can alter track and plugin parameters over time by drawing automation curves. Create your perfect mix, all without leaving Studio.
Download and export with no limits
As a Premier subscriber, you can export high-quality (32-bit/48kHz) multitracks and stems from Studio without limitations, so you can move through your creative process seamlessly.
Guiding principles
Making music demands something from us. It is only through hundreds of tiny instinctive choices that we imbue the music we make with bits of our soul. Great music is made by great artists, and Suno aims to create new ways for people to express their creative vision.
Over the past year we have seen artists at every level spend hours at a time using our tools, and their feedback and ideas have shaped our understanding of music-making. Studio 2.0 is a direct result of this feedback. Here are the big things we learned:
- We make music with our ears. To create work that feels like your own, you need to be able to turn a knob and listen to the change in real time.
- Music is tactile. Text-based prompts for music creation work great for finding inspiration. You can ask Studio’s chat for “a funky spoons ensemble playing the clave” and see where it takes you. But this is no substitute for playing in a part with a MIDI keyboard or recording in audio with a mic or analog instrument.
- Speed matters. You can only drop into a creative flow state if you can move at the speed of your ideas. We’ve worked hard to make audio generation faster to keep you moving at the cadence of creativity.
Perhaps our biggest takeaway from spending time with artists is their deep appreciation for the instruments and tools that have earned a place in their studios. There is a long lineage of pre-AI music technology that many musicians (along with us folks building Studio) love and rely on. These modern music foundations, like guitars, drum machines, synths, effects and step sequencers are tried and true, and those familiar ways of interacting with sound ought to be available in the next generation of music software, including Suno Studio.
Studio has always been about helping you turn a spark of inspiration into a finished work you can call your own. Studio 2.0 is the next step in that direction, giving you more ways to get inspired while providing access to the workflows you’re already most comfortable with. We’ll continue to look to our creative community to shape the future of Studio, as we find new ways to support and inspire music creators everywhere.
