NOBODY KNOWS ANYBODY YET [Extended instrumental intro — establish the room before any vocal] [Verse 1] Morning finds the windows Before it finds the street Light moves across the tables Soft as passing feet Someone holds the door open Someone slips inside For a little while we're together Before the day gets wide [Chorus] Nobody knows anybody yet Nobody needs to know We're only sharing this morning Before we have to go Let the whole world wait outside Let this moment take its time Nobody knows anybody yet And somehow that's just fine [Instrumental — fingerpicked guitar and Rhodes] [Verse 2] Someone laughs across the room Someone's lost in thought Someone has a long day coming Someone maybe not Steam rises through the morning light Then disappears away Funny how the smallest moments Can carry half a day [Chorus] Nobody knows anybody yet Nobody needs to know We're only sharing this morning Before we have to go Let the whole world wait outside Let this moment take its time Nobody knows anybody yet And somehow that's just fine [Bridge] No promises between us No stories we must tell Just a room that's warm and moving And a little time to dwell [Final Chorus — wider, warm harmonies] Nobody knows anybody yet Maybe we never will But for one easy morning The world is standing still Let the daylight find us slowly Let the melody unwind Nobody knows anybody yet And somehow that's just fine [Extended instrumental outro — no additional lyric]
