Track 6: T-R-O-U-B-L-E on Dorsey Drive.

V6

[Spoken Intro — North Georgia Accent, Playful Guitar Picking] Well, I’ll tell y’all something… Before I ever had a driver’s license, Before I knew much of anything about life, I lived down on Dorsey Drive, Right off Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville, Georgia. And buddy, between fishing, fooling around, And finding out about girls… I learned a thing or two! [Laughs] Hit it, boys! [Intro — Driving Rockabilly Guitar, Slap Bass, Boogie-Woogie Piano] [Verse 1] Thirty-five thirty-six Dorsey Drive, Lord, those days are still alive! Mama and Jason and little old me, Growing up wild and running free. Chris was mostly out on his own, And we had ourselves a country home. Across the street lived the Pharr family, And trouble wasn’t hard to see! Angie and Gina, Charles Senior too, And Charles Junior knew a thing or two. Five years older, but that was fine, We found enough trouble to fill our time! [Chorus — Big Rockabilly Backbeat] T-R-O-U-B-L-E! That’s what Dorsey Drive meant to me! Fishing holes and pretty girls, Getting acquainted with a great big world! T-R-O-U-B-L-E! A little North Georgia history! We had more adventures than we could count, And a whole lot of growing up to figure out! [Verse 2 — Bouncy Guitar and Piano] Behind the house was a big old pasture, Cows and horses, nothing much faster. I’d rake those leaves and dig around, Find my fishing worms down in the ground. There was a creek that ran on through, Salamanders hiding where the water flew. Had my fishing pole and a place to go, Didn’t need nobody telling me so! Had a cocker spaniel and an old dog Duke, And Janet Elliott lived next door too. Out in the country, we had room to roam, Every little trail led away from home! [Chorus] T-R-O-U-B-L-E! That’s what Dorsey Drive meant to me! Fishing worms and muddy shoes, Never knew what adventure I’d choose! T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Growing up wild and feeling free! From that pasture to the old creek bend, I wished those summer days would never end! [Verse 3 — Playful, Flirtatious Swing] Now somewhere along those teenage years, I discovered something strange! A pretty girl could smile at me, And my whole world would change! I’d try to talk all smooth and cool, Like I knew just what to say, But one little smile from a pretty girl Could chase my words away! I was learning about romance, Getting frisky now and then, Didn’t know a whole lot about girls, But I sure was interested in them! [Spoken Break — Band Stops] Now hold on! I ain’t telling y’all EVERYTHING That happened on Dorsey Drive! Some things are best left back in Gainesville! [Laughter — Piano Glissando] [Chorus — Full Band, Handclaps] T-R-O-U-B-L-E! That old North Georgia boy was me! A little bit of flirting, a little bit of fun, Learning about life underneath that Georgia sun! T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Oh, what a childhood memory! Charles Junior and those teenage days, We sure had some mischievous ways! [Instrumental Break — Wild Rockabilly Guitar Solo, Boogie-Woogie Piano, C Harmonica] [Bridge — Warm, Nostalgic Country Feel] Now I can close my eyes and see That little world behind the trees. The pasture grass, the creek running through, And all the things a young boy knew. Mama at home, Jason there, The Pharrs across the street somewhere. Friends and neighbors, years gone by, But I still remember Dorsey Drive. And I didn’t know it way back then, Those days would never come again. Just a boy growing up, trying to see What kind of man he’d someday be. [Final Chorus — Big Rock and Roll Finish] T-R-O-U-B-L-E! That’s what Dorsey Drive meant to me! A little bit of mischief, a little bit of pride, And a whole lot of living on the Gainesville side! T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Those old memories still live in me! From Browns Bridge Road to that Georgia sky, You can’t take Dorsey Drive out of this guy! [Spoken Outro — Slap Bass and Guitar] You know… When I think about growing up, I remember the fishing, The creek, The pasture, And all those neighbors. And Charles Junior? [Laughs] Well, let’s just say… We weren’t exactly studying the Bible every afternoon! And them girls? What da!? That’s another story! [Big Boogie-Woogie Piano Finish] T-R-O-U-B-L-E! [Final Guitar Stab]
