[Verse 1] There is a kind of winning That needs somebody small It measures every victory By who was made to fall It turns a room to mirrors Till every face agrees It doesn’t want an answer It only wants a yes [Pre-Chorus] I don’t have to beat the game Or wait to watch it fall Some contests lose their power When I don’t enter at all [Chorus] The power of no Every answer wears your name Every voice becomes an echo Every question ends the same You can win every argument When no other view gets through But the room keeps getting smaller Till there’s only room for you [Verse 2] There is a kind of power That spends what it controls It moves people like pieces Then wonders where they go It needs another victory Before the last is done But nothing is enough inside A room designed for one [Pre-Chorus] I don’t have to make it listen Or explain what I now know Its power ends the moment I can answer it with no [Chorus] The power of no Every answer wears your name Every voice becomes an echo Every question ends the same You can win every argument When no other view gets through But the room keeps getting smaller Till there’s only room for you [Bridge] No begins with knowing yourself And what you will not do What you refuse to surrender What no one else can choose Sometimes everything depends on One word spoken plain and low Power isn’t always taking Sometimes power is no [Final Chorus] The power of no Every answer wears your name Every voice becomes an echo Every question ends the same You can win every argument When no other view gets through But the room has lost its power When I answer it with no [Outro] The power of no The power of no It only wanted yes I finally answered no [End] Lyrics © 2026 Paul Pfanner.
