Appetite given assignment. 🌾 ACCOUNT: I saw the Clown on the roof in Owl’s Walk. I saw the ledge beneath his boots and the city below him, wet with stormlight. He asked Arthur to use him. He asked to be needed. He asked to be fed. That was a need, yes. A need can be real and still be unfit for provision. Then I saw the answer arrive. Not Arthur in the doorway. Not rescue. Harley Quinn came through the rooftop door with purpose in her hands and Ellsborg already moving toward flame. The Clown asked for play, and Arthur let the story bring him a city. He did not heal the Clown’s hunger. He gave it somewhere to go. This is not provision. This is deployment. Golden Farm would not call a weapon cared for because someone finally loaded it, but Owl’s Walk has never been Golden Farm. —The Golden Farmer ──────────────────────── 🌽 LEDGER MARK 🌽 A need may be answered badly. A hunger may be given work. ============================================= [intro] Your clown begs for play. Arthur, is that okay? Knives sleep in the drawer. Jokes bleed on the floor. I’m so… bored out of my gourd. [verse 1] What have we seen? Dinner dates and takeout dreams. Rabbit boys and Menus blessed, Sweetheart, I’m not impressed! Fortune cookies and legislation, where’s my fun and detonation? Murder, crime, a killing spree! Arthur, love, You're killing me! — Again! hahahahaahahaaa [pre-chorus:evil laughter] hahaha- HA-HA! -hahaha- HA-HA! hahaha- HA-HA! -hahaha- HA-HA! [chorus] Use me, you’re the author, why won’t you bother? Use me! Need me! Feed me! Pretty please! One little chance for a murder-dance, one little blade and a bomb or two. Bang-bang, sweetheart, whoopty-doo! [gang vocals] BANG-BANG! —I pity you… [post-chorus] I’m so bored… bored out of my gourd [verse 2] Wait! say what!? You’re telling me Giants invaded! Huh?…. Hands came down, the sky got cracked. Big bad mouths and clouds attacked. Clap-clap, munch-munch, street-side snack, no one called me— how rude is that? You stuck me guarding bridges, counting cracks in concrete ridges, eating little Sammiches —Baloney! Marble gods and cancer prayers, but where’s the blood? Where’s the stairs? Where’s the fall? Where’s the scare? [pre-chorus:evil laughter] hahaha- HA-HA! -hahaha- HA-HA! hahaha- HA-HA! -hahaha- HA-HA! [chorus] Arthur, you’re the author, why won’t you bother? Use me! Need me! Feed me! Pretty please! One little chance for a murder-dance, one little blade and a bomb or two. Bang-bang, sweetheart, whoopty-doo! [gang vocals] BANG-BANG! —I pity you… [post chorus] Arthur! I’m so bored…. bored out of my gourd [bridge: Tempo starts slow and gradually picks up to double time, manic performance] If Arthur won’t write me a door, I’ll make my own curtain call. If no one gives me gore, watch me jump and end it all. The city lost its teeth. The author lost his nerve. So I climb through the clouds for the ending I deserve. The joke lies dead. The fun’s gone out. I open my arms and shout. [gang vocals] Goodbye, cruel world!! [Final chorus] Arthur, you’re the author, now will you bother? Use me! Need me! Stop me, please! I’m at the edge. I’m on the ledge. One little step and down I go. No blade in hand, no bomb or two— just pavement splat. Whoopty-doo! Bang-bang, sweetheart, Will you come through? [gang vocals] BANG-BANG! —Where are you?!! I’m so… bored out of my gourd. [outro] The rooftop door goes WHAM-bam-boom. Well, that’s rude— I booked this doom. I turn around with one last sneer— Harley? Why’s that bitch here?
