✦ The Great Unfolding ✦ Svoya ★彡 There was a room in the house I had never been in. 28 years of walking past the door. Not locked. Just painted the colour of the wall, so you'd have to want to see it to see it at all. I stood with my palm flat on the frame, the way you test a river for its cold. The air inside smelled of rain on a place I'd never lived, and I was frightened, and I wanted it, and neither one let go. Oh, the great unfolding, slow as an opening hand, nothing to hold, and the map has no end. Every crease is where I was kept, every crease is where I bend. I left the lamp behind me in the hall. The floor in here is warmer than the floor out there. I don't know the names of anything I'm passing. I learn each step by foot, and then by heart. Further in, the walls move out. Further in, the walls move out. (The door was never locked.) (The door was never locked.) Oh, the great unfolding, slow as an opening hand, nothing to hold, and the map has no end. Every crease is where I was kept, every crease is a way in. Unfold. Unfold. Further in. © 2026 Svoya. All rights reserved.
