**part 6 of me extreme metal series*** Jesus loves me, this I know For the Bible tells me so.. Jesus loves me, so He fed me to the fucking flame. Halo dim, sanctified knot Jesus loves me so He let me burn Calm as scripture, waited His turn Slow hands, methodical flame Teaching flesh how to feel again Jesus loves me I asked why...so God let me die Not once. Not clean. Not final. Not kind. I burn in hell for all of time No learned lesson, no grand design! Endless flame, your fear applied Pain perfected, supplied divine Jesus loves me, this I know.. for the bible tells me so Death’s just across the lake Body rebuilt to take this hate Love that scars you into shape Love that claws, won’t let escape They called this mercy infinite, pure I call it torture dressed as cure This is mercy, say it slow This is love in a holy robe Jesus loves me…for the bible tells me so Jesus loves me…for the bible tells me I burn in hell for all of time For one small word, for asking why! No crimes, no wars, no blood on hands Just curiosity you couldn’t stand They said He died so I’d be free So why am I the offering still bleeding? Your cross bought peace, kept the machine My screams just keep it clean Jesus loves me… never stopped This is your grace, razor precise Love forged in fire and ice Hatred crowned divine unseen A throne built out of threat and fear Jesus loves me, this I learned Love is letting someone burn!!! You lit the fire, call it holy if you want Jesus loves me, this I know For the Bible tells me so.. ___________________ What the song says: This is about eternal hell as proof that Christian love is actually torture. The speaker is in hell - not metaphorically, literally burning - and using that experience to indict the entire concept of divine love. If this is what Jesus's love looks like, it's sadism with a halo. Core message: The doctrine of eternal conscious torment is incompatible with love. Any being that would inflict infinite punishment for finite crime (or for simple curiosity - "asking why") isn't loving. It's monstrous. And calling that love is gaslighting on a cosmic scale. Key themes: Hell as divine abuse - "Love that scars you into shape / Love that claws, won't let escape" Eternal punishment for questioning - "I burn in hell for all of time / For one small word, for asking why" Torture rebranded as mercy - "They called this mercy infinite, pure / I call it torture dressed as cure" The sacrificial con - "Your cross bought peace, kept the machine / My screams just keep it clean" Weaponized love - "Love is letting someone burn" What it's really about: The theological horror of hell doctrine. Specifically aimed at evangelical Christianity that teaches: Eternal conscious torment (not annihilation) Infinite punishment for finite sin "Love" that includes watching people burn forever A God who created hell knowing most humans would end up there The gut punch: "I burn in hell for all of time / For one small word, for asking why!" - damnation for curiosity. For the same thing that got Adam and Eve expelled. The system punishes the very capacity (questioning, reasoning) that supposedly makes humans special. Who this resonates with: Ex-Christians tormented by hell doctrine People who left faith because they couldn't reconcile a loving God with eternal torture Those traumatized by fire-and-brimstone preaching Anyone told they deserved hell for being LGBTQ+, doubting, or asking questions People with religious scrupulosity/OCD focused on hell The subversion: Taking "Jesus Loves Me" - the most innocent children's hymn - and turning it into a horror anthem. The nursery rhyme melody (implied) singing about eternal torture. Innocence corrupted by the doctrine itself. The most damning accusation: "Your cross bought peace, kept the machine / My screams just keep it clean" - Jesus's sacrifice didn't free anyone. It just maintains the system. Hell keeps running. The torture continues. The cross was theater. The false dichotomy exposed: "They said He died so I'd be free / So why am I the offering still bleeding?" - if the sacrifice was complete, why is there still punishment? If the debt was paid, why am I still paying? Emotional core: Betrayed bewilderment. Not just anger - confusion. "I asked why" - that's it. That's the crime. Wanting to understand. And for that: eternal flame. The theological implications: If hell is eternal and God is omniscient, then God created people knowing they would burn forever. That's not justice. That's not love. That's sadism with extra steps. The nursery rhyme horror: "Jesus loves me, this I know / For the Bible tells me so" - children sing this in Sunday school. While the doctrine teaches that most of those children (statistically) will burn forever. That's the hidden horror in the lullaby. Why it's the darkest: Because it's post-damnation. The other songs are about escaping systems on Earth. This one? There is no escape. "Death's just across the lake / Body rebuilt to take this hate" - you can't even die. Resurrection just means more burning. The final accusation: "Love is letting someone burn" - if that's your definition of love, your love is worthless. Your God is a monster. And I'd rather burn honestly than worship dishonestly. This isn't asking for salvation. This is refusing it. From inside the fire.
