Stories: Roads Between Worlds

### The Road The road winds on through wood and rain, Past paths we may not walk again. A turn, a clearing, light between— And suddenly, a new world is seen. ### Stories That Remain We carry worlds of many names, The years may go, but they remain. Just like us, their tales move on, And something new is in their song. ### Where Worlds Entwine The song is known; the scene is strange, The notes stay still; their meanings change. What once meant one thing now means two, Standing together and shining through. ### One Begins When Another Goes Moments of life, of loss, and of pain Are a single voice in the falling rain. Yet somewhere, someone hears and knows One begins when another goes. ### The Flame Still on the road, true to our aim, We leave and nothing is the same. A word, a tune, a tale retold— A spark passed on, a flame to hold. ### Two Worlds, One Planet The same words underneath the same sky, Though two different worlds spin by. Your stars are strange; mine bear old names, One earth beneath a thousand flames. ### Footprints I saw your footprints after a rain, But soon lost them once again. Was it you or I who turned away, Or did we both go astray? ### The Daffodils A road I never meant to take, A turn I had no cause to make. And through the trees, a hillside shone— A thousand golden lights alone. They'd waited there through rain and sun, Through all the roads I'd traveled on. One break in the trees, one glance aside— A world had opened on the other side. I turned the car. I brought you back. The flowers burned along the track. They'd always been there. We had not. And now the place became a thought We both could keep, though years would pass— A little world behind the glass. ### The Girl in the Dead Winds A girl walks where the dead winds blow, With words the winter cannot hold. One stolen page, one ember saved, A voice that Death would never claim. ### The Conversation I told you what the pages showed, The paths I took, the roads I chose. You smiled, said "I was there, too— But I saw it differently than you." ### The Shared Story We shared the things we had seen; One world, but still two scenes. The story each had thought they knew Grew into something shared by two. ### Beyond the Closing Page We closed the book; the words remained. And with new stories we had gained, Our road goes on, in every way, With more to carry into each new day. ### An Invitation So take our story, if you will, Or leave it in the daffodils. The road is yours; the choice is, too— Your story is up to you.
