Bowie Tribute – “Planet Zero: The Final Transmission”

“This is Major Tom… to Planet Zero… Do you copy…?” Ground Control to Captain Cosmo Your helmet’s cracked, the silence grows The stars look very different tonight I’m floating in a most peculiar light Planet Zero! Ziggy’s playing his last guitar Planet Zero! Falling like a flaming star Red hair burning through the atmosphere He’s voodoo-chile, he’s the thin white fear Planet Zero… Planet Zero… See the mice in their million hordes From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads Take a look at the lawman beating up the wrong guy Wonder if he’ll ever know He’s in the best-selling show… Is there life on Planet Zero? We could be heroes… just for one day We could steal time… just for one day I, I can remember… standing by the wall The guns shot above our heads And we kissed… as though nothing could fall Look up here, I’m in heaven I’ve got scars that can’t be seen I’ve got drama can’t be stolen Everybody knows me now This way or no way You know I’ll be free Just like that bluebird Planet Zero… Planet Zero… Something happened on the day he died Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside Somebody else took his place and bravely cried “I’m a blackstar… I’m a blackstar…” Planet Zero! Ashes to ashes, dust to dust Planet Zero! We know Major Tom’s a junkie, but He blew our minds, he stole our hearts He was the laugh, the tear, the spark Planet Zero… Planet Zero… Thank you, David… we can be heroes… Forever and ever… From one planet to another. Play it loud. Play it once. Play it when you need to remember that some stars never really die. Thank you, Starman. We’re still listening.
