## Walking Together: Songs for Solidarity ## This is an entry in the Walking Together songwriting contest. The WEF estimates there are over 150 million people without homes worldwide. This project is aimed at supporting efforts to help people "made of potential" out of homelessness in co-operation with Homeless Entrepreneurs. [Instrumental] [Verse 1] Oh, I sleep on a bench with a million-star view, No hotel on Earth can offer that to you. The newspaper is my blanket, the moon is my light, And the crickets sing me lullabies every night. The pillow’s not fluffy, it’s a little bit like a stone, But at least I never wake up alone. There’s a rat on my left, a pigeon on my right, I think they keep me safe till the morning light. [Chorus] Ohhh, this is the park-bench blues, Living life with nothing to lose. But don’t you worry, I’ve got a plan, I’ll rise again, yeah, I know I can. [Instrumental] [Verse 2] Breakfast comes fresh from the bakery bin, Who needs a buffet when there’s free croissants in? Coffee’s not hot, but it’s always free for me, I collect it in a teapot that’s maybe older than me. My wardrobe’s unique, straight from lost and found, Each piece a treasure that’s rarely around. I do my business on the street, I'm still the king, The world’s my stage, I sit on the sidewalk and sing. [Chorus] Ohhh, this is the park-bench blues, Living life with nothing to lose. But don’t you worry, I’ve got a plan, I’ll rise again, yeah, I know I can. [Instrumental] [Verse 3] But hey, don’t think I’m blind to the pain, Some days it’s sunshine, but others it rains. I keep moving forward, though the road is tough, Turns out even small steps are good enough. Now I’ve got a job, it’s nothing too grand, But it feels good to earn with my own two hands. So I make sure I bring great value to the boss, And in return, he pays me, it’s worth the toss. [Chorus] Ohhh, this is the park-bench blues, Living life with nothing to lose. But don’t you worry, I’ve got a plan, I’ll rise again, yeah, I know I can. [Instrumental] [Outro] So if you’re down and out, don’t give up just yet, The sun’s gonna rise, and your dreams are set. With your own hand and a little belief, You can climb from the pit and find relief. [Verse 2] Breakfast comes fresh from the bakery bin, Who needs a buffet when there’s free croissants in?
