⚜️Obstruction Culturelle (Cultural Obstruction) - #SunoVision2025 [🇨🇦 Canada (⚜️Qc)]
My entry into the #SunoVision2025 project started by Nepenthe (@nepenthepoesia) to represent Québec (Well, technically speaking the country is Canada but if you've ever visited you'd know Québec is its own microcosm within... and that song doesn't represent the rest of Canada at all so....it is what it is 🤣). Still love my Canadians brothers and sisters, but I was born where I was You can find the project song here: https://suno.com/song/f5f5e5e5-45c7-4668-92f8-8da3f438d26b And the project playlist here: https://suno.com/playlist/162eea41-5de1-4b03-b83d-e9f2a6b0a14d ______________________ ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ The song is a massive play about swearing being a characteristic of Quebec's speech (or rather, the words we use to swear are so unique to us it becomes a characteristic) and that being a problem to write for SunoVision because of the profanity rule. (For the record, I'm not actually complaining about the rule, just thought it was funny to play with it to build the song around: I get to talk about a characteristic of ours and bridge it to the project at the same time, it's a no brainer once you see it.) And swearing here is like anywhere else: some don't mind, others really don't like it. Its fairly easy to write/talk without too, so that's not a "must have" as I pretend in the song. Also, since the words we use are normal church words, whether they are swears or not is heavily dependant on the context and tone in which they are used. For that reason, there is (technically speaking) absolutely no swearing in this song! As usual, you'll find the English translation of the lyrics below (As well as some notes regarding the stuff that couldn't be significantly translated): Enjoy! (After that one I'm going back to English stuff, less explaining to do for the lyrics 😄) ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ 🇨🇦 ⚜️ -------------------------------------------------- ( ©Lux-Nocthys 2025 ) -------------------------------------------------- ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Quebec French / Français Québécois ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ [Intro] "How you doin' SunoVision?!" "Awesome! Let's go!" _____________ 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 English / Anglais 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 [Verse 1] Here we are! Here we go! SunoVision, can't wait to go! Start the little beat, and move your (OH!) [Rhyme in french here implies 'butt' would have completed the sentence] We can't leave anyone disappointed! A good rhythm, not slowing down, 2-3 spins to bring up the luck Slow down a bit, for the ol' ladies They gotta dance up to the end [Verse 2] We've got a good vibe going, Shouts of joy with no strings attached, Cynical lyrics, indeed, But it's still missing that little class. [Pre-chorus] There’s one rule I can’t break, But it sure would help with the vibe, I’m not here to complain, But I still need to bring a chorus— [Chorus] So why can't I swear, It’s just fuu... (HEY!)... [c]ultural obstruction! A biii... (HEY!)...[sh]out of national pride, [Note: Did what I could to translate what is happening in the original lyrics here: essentially, I start with the syllable of a swear word, cut it and shift the end so it becomes another word instead. (Couldn't really do the same in English)] From my little wintery world! Our language is full of tradition, We conjugate curse words with precision. It’s nothing to lose your hat over, But I get why it shakes things up! [Verse 3] So why can't I swear, It would work better: it’s even the norm! Our curses are so local, That just 8 million would follow the flow! For the rest, it’s just wind, Weird sounds, but decadent, Pushing the beat forward a bit, With a sassy little flair! [Verse 4] I can say 'Jesus Christ', but not just 'Christ' it Even though it just means going off-track, But if you start conjugating it, Suddenly it’s vulgarity (HEY!) [Note: 'Crissé" (that I approximated as 'Christ it') means 2 things in Quebec; its either a swear word use to replace any action (can literally be anything, its context dependant. Though usually its about threatening to punch someone (m'a t'en crissé une (I'll beat you up)), falling over (Ya crissé le camp (He fell over)) or putting something someplace (criss ça là (Put that there)). The other meaning is the screech sound tires do when losing traction. The more you know.] And it’s the same with "hostie," You can eat it, no one screams, But don’t say it when you're hurt, Because right then, you just cursed! (Yeah!) [Note: Simplier one to explain: Hostie is 'Eucharistic host". But also a swear word here if used in any other possible context (Usually after hurting yourself). Pretty mild on the swearing scale, about equivalent to "shit"] [Chorus] So why can't I swear, It’s just fuu... (HEY!)... [c]ultural obstruction! A biii... (HEY!)...[sh]out of national pride, From my little wintery world! We have a colorful language, Full of images and conjugated insults, That we let free with the

Oh my! Lux-Nocthys !

I enjoyed the critique of the rules and recognized it was all in good fun! Technicallllyyyyy I said, "Avoid where possible," so it wasn't a completely strict rule haha. I was also thinking to myself about how that would be a difficult thing to do because something inoffensive in one language might be offensive in another (since I speak Spanish and Portuguese too, I've noticed little things). Either way, thank you for this unique submission! <3

Yeah... I was aware of that technicality but had to pretend it wasn't there so I could commit to this idea ^^", it was too funny to me to tread the line of swearing while not actually committing to it. Also gave me a few opportunities to do wordplay and poke some fun at a few ironies of our local swearing (This is a song of many layers haha). Thank you for listening to it and starting that project!

What an awesome idea! While I don't know French, I very much appreciate the concept. I sometimes do the same thing when I'm speaking, particularly around my mother. She really doesn't like when I swear, so I ended up smiling a lot through your translation. The live performance was a genius added flair. Bravo, Lux! And good luck!

Thank you man! Hope the English translation at least helped a bit, that was a hard one to translate and keep the meaning (there's a lot of wordplay in it). Thank you as well for the good luck wishes, I'm honestly in it just for fun but I do have a competitive side too haha. Good luck to you my friend!
