Episode 16: Time to Wake Up Part I. (Arthur-verse)

╔════════════════════════════════════════════ ║ 📚 ARTHUR-VERSE · SEASON 1 · ISSUE FILE ╠════════════════════════════════════════════ ║ 🗂️ SET: ARTHUR-VERSE · S1 ║ 🎵 TRACK: "Episode 16: Time To Wake Up, Part I" ║ 👥 CAST: Tim Drake / Damian Wayne (remembered) / Arthur (referenced) / ║ Conner Kent (referenced) / Unknown Voice (Gracie’s world) ╠════════════════════════════════════════════ ║ 🎬 SYNOPSIS: Tim can’t sleep. Owls Walk feels hollow. He keeps the comm in out of ║ habit and notes the silence. In the kitchen, a black mug with a red stripe slips ║ from the cupboard. He snatches it before it breaks. Conner’s mug. Reflexes still ║ perfect. Some connections still hold. ║ ║ His mind circles the fallout. Damian’s withered-then-whole hand. The curse. “Intent ║ isn’t consent.” Arthur drifting into crowd-as-math thinking. Tim hates that he can ║ understand it. He opens a memory box and takes out a rope from old acrobat knots, ║ a circus gift from a man whose face never stayed clear. The city feels paused, like ║ it’s waiting for something. ║ ║ He remembers the grid flicker and the nameless vigil nine days ago, the sense of a ║ presence everyone felt without naming. He speaks to Arthur into the empty room, then ║ whispers the selfish line only to himself: he needs people to make mistakes because ║ fixing them gives him purpose. Rope to his brow, he wishes Arthur were there. ║ ║ Then a dog barks. A stranger’s voice cuts in. “Gracie! Shut up! It’s one p.m., I ║ worked last night, just two more hours, damn!” It’s not his house, not his city, not ║ his world. The room goes dark. The world goes black. ║ ║ 🛋️ THERAPIST NOTE: Tim is holding it together by doing what he does best: observing ║ and filing details. The mug and the rope show how he anchors himself in objects and ║ history when relationships feel uncertain. His “it gives me purpose” confession is ║ the uncomfortable core. Saving people is how he knows he matters, which makes every ║ catastrophe a twisted confirmation. ║ ║ The Gracie voice is the first clear cross-layer bleed between the Arthur-verse and ║ the meta-author’s life. Tim experiences it as an impossible interruption. The audience ║ recognizes it as the other side of the glass starting to crack. ║ ║ 🩺 FILED IMPRESSION: High-functioning grief with purpose-dependence and ethical ║ hypervigilance (Tim); Early cross-reality auditory intrusion hinting at a coming ║ convergence. ╚════════════════════════════════════ [Intro] Tim lay awake, counting his breath Owls Walk felt hollow—missing its depth Lights stayed on, but the noise felt thin Like the city was here, but not within [Verse 1] He kept the comm in, routine intact No voice came through — he noted the fact He opened his cupboard, mugs in rows Gifts that stack where the habit goes Black cup, red stripe—Conner’s small mark The door swung wide; the mug fell hard He caught it clean, all muscle and sure Brewed dark roast, ready to serve No signal. No call. No nightly flare. Just quiet sitting in the air. [refrain] mmmMMMmmm [Bridge 1: Strong vocal delivery that winds down, strong —> soft, anger —> lament] And Tim thought about… Damian’s hand, desiccated—withered then fine A “good” curse still crossed the line Intent isn’t consent. Tim knew. That truth stayed sharp, stayed true. He could see Arthur’s distance—cold How crowds become math when you don’t grow old But they were people. They had weight. Tim hated that he could translate. On a shelf sat a memory box Inside, a rope from old acrobat knots A circus night that never cleared The man who gave it — disappeared Purpose felt thin. The city felt paused. Tim felt the loss without knowing the cause. [Verse 2: build up, symphony swells] Nine days ago the lights went strange Grid stuttered, then something changed A vigil formed with candle flame no one was named No one knew why No one knew what No one knew who But everyone felt a presence and Tim had too Just hands with flame held still A city grieving by sheer will Tim felt it from the manor room Arthur’s name like low perfume He spoke, not prayer, not plea, just true: “Why act like nothing matters to you?” “You talk fearless, like you don’t care—” “But you’re scared,” he said, into the air “Quiet isn’t mercy. Quiet isn’t clean.” “People make mistakes. That’s what I mean.” He didn’t say the selfish part— But it lived alive inside his heart [whispered: music momentarily winds down] … I need them to make mistakes, it gives me purpose.. [Music swells, strong vocal and musical delivery] “I wish you were here.” Rope to his brow— “I feel you near” “but how?” A bark cut through the quiet now: A new voice, Not him Not Tim It cut through the barking howl [Music cuts: Spoken word:: anger, irritated, theatrical, dramatic] “Gracie! Shut up!— it’s one p.m. I worked last night— just two more hours, damn! ” [music resumes] The room went dark. The world went black.
