Tomorrow, We'll Walk Again
[INTRO – SPOKEN MALE, BUBBA] Well, good morning, Trigger. Look who's coming down the sidewalk. Darlene! What in the world you doing out here this early? [SPOKEN FEMALE – DARLENE] Well, Bubba, somebody's gotta make sure you two don't get arrested for harassing the neighborhood squirrels! [BUBBA – LAUGHING] Well, that ain't me doing the harassing! Come on, Trigger. Looks like we got company today. [Bright acoustic guitar, walking bass, playful harmonica and female saxophone] [VERSE 1 – BUBBA, MALE COUNTRY VOCAL] Sun coming up on Crown Parkway, Little white dog leading the way. Darlene walking on my left-hand side, Saying, "Bubba, ain't it good to be alive?" Got my old harmonica in my jeans, Morning dew on the grass so green. Three good friends and a winding road, A whole lot less than we used to carry home. [DARLENE – FEMALE SPOKEN] Bubba, does that dog ever slow down? [BUBBA – SPOKEN] Only when he's doing something he ain't supposed to! [CHORUS – BUBBA AND DARLENE DUET] Tomorrow, we'll walk again, Around that corner, around that bend. With a little more laughter, And a little less rain, A little more sunshine Running through our veins. We ain't gotta know what's coming then, Ain't gotta figure out how the story ends. Thank the good Lord for the day we're in, And tomorrow, we'll walk again! [HARMONICA AND SAXOPHONE DUET BREAK] [Harmonica plays a cheerful melody] [Darlene answers with swinging tenor sax] [Playful musical back-and-forth] [VERSE 2 – DARLENE, FEMALE COUNTRY-BLUES VOCAL] Down by Hampton Pond we go, Watching little ripples where the breezes blow. Bubba stops to hear a mockingbird sing, Trigger's got his nose in everything. I said, "Bubba, you seem different today. You don't have as much you need to say." He smiled and looked across the pond, Said, "I'm learning how to let things go on." [BUBBA – SPOKEN] You know, Darlene... I used to think I had to figure everything out. [DARLENE – SPOKEN] And now? [BUBBA – SPOKEN] Now I figure I don't. [DARLENE – LAUGHING] Well, that's progress, Bubba! [BUBBA – LAUGHING] That's what I'm thinking! [CHORUS – FULL DUET] Tomorrow, we'll walk again, Around that corner, around that bend. With a little more laughter, And a little less pain, A little more sunshine After the rain. We ain't gotta know what's coming then, Ain't gotta figure out how the story ends. Thank the good Lord for the day we're in, And tomorrow, we'll walk again! [VERSE 3 – BUBBA, RHYTHMIC COUNTRY TALK-SING] Trigger sees a squirrel, And he's gone full speed! Darlene starts laughing, Says, "Lord, look at his feet!" I'm holding that leash, Trying to keep my pride, With a sixteen-pound sheriff Taking me for a ride! That squirrel hit a tree, Trigger looked my way, Like, "Another dangerous criminal Got away today!" [DARLENE – SPOKEN, LAUGHING] Bubba, I believe that dog's running the entire neighborhood! [BUBBA – SPOKEN] Well, he sure ain't paying the taxes! [UPBEAT INSTRUMENTAL] [Fast harmonica riff] [Darlene plays a joyful saxophone solo] [Acoustic guitar and banjo trade short licks] [BRIDGE – BUBBA, SOFT SPOKEN WORD] You know, there's something about these morning walks. Used to be, I'd carry yesterday all the way into tomorrow. Every argument. Every worry. Every little thing I couldn't change. But somewhere along this road, sitting on those little benches, I started learning something. I don't have to carry all that. I can be still. I can forgive. I can thank the Father for the life right in front of me. And sometimes that life is a little white dog trying to chase a squirrel. [DARLENE – SOFT FEMALE SPOKEN] And a friend walking beside you. [BUBBA – WARM SPOKEN] That's right, Darlene. And a friend walking beside me. [SOFT HARMONICA SOLO] [VERSE 4 – DARLENE, FEMALE SINGING] By the third little bench on Jessup Street, There's a little more peace beneath our feet. The world keeps spinning, the birds still sing, And nobody knows what tomorrow brings. [BUBBA – MALE SINGING] But today there's a dog and a friend of mine, A patch of blue in the Carolina sky. And if the Father gives us another day, We'll meet right here and be on our way. [FINAL CHORUS – BIG MALE/FEMALE DUET] Tomorrow, we'll walk again! Around that corner, around that bend! With a little more laughter, And a whole lot of grace, And a little white dog Setting the pace! We ain't gotta know what's coming then, Ain't gotta figure out how the story ends. Thank the good Lord for the day we're in, And tomorrow, we'll walk again! [DARLENE – FEMALE SINGING] Tomorrow, we'll walk again! [BUBBA – MALE SINGING] Lord willing, my friend! [BOTH – HARMONIZED] And the road just keeps on going, Around the bend! [EXTENDED JOYFUL INSTRUMENTAL] [Country swing groove] [Harmonica and tenor sax trading solos] [Banjo picking, acoustic guitar, upright bass and light shuffle drums] [Music gradually softens] [OUTRO – SPOKEN MALE, BUBBA] Well, Darlene, I reckon we've about made it home. [DARLENE – SPOKEN FEMALE] Sure was a beau
