[Spoken word in order throughout] Maggie and Greg by Topher Cornfeld [Begin] Maggie and Greg played near the well, Where whispers danced and shadows fell. "Just one peek," said Maggie, bold, As Greg looked on with fingers cold. Down they peered, and darkness stared, A chilling breeze, a feeling shared. β€œLet’s drop a stone,” young Greg declared, And watched it fall through endless air. The stone went down, no splash, no sound, To where lost things were never found. Then Maggie slipped, her balance gone, And Greg just stared as she fell on. Into the dark, where nightmares creep, And well-worn secrets lie and sleep. Till dreams do free them, with blame and fearβ€” Since then, any sleep claimed he holds dear. Barely twenty, yet he looks thirty-one, And still he’s told no one what he’s done. He’s fine by day, with shadows at bay, But come nightfall, Maggie comes out to play. [end]

This is how most children’s tales should be told (all of them are so macabre) and this one should be right in the mix.😁

I think this was the 1st tune after I did the ones that I had written for topher's book. And this came straight off the top of my head in one go. Gotta love the manic cycle.
