It’s four in the mornin’ .... oh what a sight, I flip on the light and I get such a fright! Who’s that fool lookin’ back at me, Pretending to be me in the mirror? Shufflin’ ‘round the house all scraggled and torn, Like I’ve been dragged backwards through an early-morning storm. I peer in close and what do I see? The lines have gone south, oh Lord have mercy on me! Who’s that fool in the mirror? Pretending to be me .... oh dear, oh dear! Wrinkles and crinkles and gray hair too, False teeth clackin’ like they’ve got somethin’ to do! The only thing missin’ is a glass eye, gee… Who’s that fool lookin’ back at me? Where’d that lovely skin go that I used to know? And why is my hair fallin’ down like snow? Thin little wisps dropping onto the floor I sweep it up daily, then I shed even more! Those gappy teeth grin where the straight ones stood, (Well, they lasted a while… they were pretty damn good!) Hold up my arm and what do I see? Saggy ol’ skin where muscles used to be! Who’s that fool in the mirror? Pretending to be me .... oh dear, oh dear! Everything’s wobblin’ from my neck to my knees, Gravity’s workin’ overtime, doin’ it with ease! Someone call security, ‘cause truly I believe… That fool ain’t me starin’ back at me! I turn a little sideways tryin’ to find my curves, But all I find is rolls .... oh, life’s got some nerve! Turkey neck wobblin’, ears droopin’ low, Faded eyebrows playin’ hide-and-seek, where’d they go?! Hair fallin’ off like autumn leaves, My mirror’s laughin’ .... I swear it wheezes! So I march to the kitchen for a drink from the fridge, Bend down for a banana .... creak like an old bridge. Shuffle back to the bathroom, take one more peek, And that fool in the mirror still looks the same this week! But hey .... I wink at myself and grin real wide, ‘Cause this older model’s still got sparkle inside! Who’s that fool in the mirror? Pretending to be me .... but I see clearer: She’s lived, she’s laughed, she’s danced through years, Earned every wrinkle, crinkle, giggle and tear. So move on over, fool .... make room for me… I’m still the queen of what I see!
