Verse 1 You were there when I took my first breath, I was there when you took your last. The music played, your favourite tunes, As time slipped gently past. I imagine my tiny hand in yours, Not long after I was born. Just as your hand was in mine, When your last day did dawn. Chorus The joy of music was your life, Always on your mind, your lips, your hips. The beat within your body, A rhythm that never quit. You gave us love, you gave us song, A gift that carries on forever. (music interlude) Verse 2 You used to say, “I can’t do anything, What good am I?” But you did the most beautiful thing, You brought music to our lives. The breath that sustains, Like the breath of life you gave. Your hand will always be in ours, When the music plays. The love of music is our life, Your melody will never fade. Through every note, through every chord, Your heartbeat will remain. Chorus The joy of music was your life, Always on your mind, your lips, your hips. The beat within your body, A rhythm that never quit. You gave us love, you gave us song, A gift that carries on forever. (music interlude) The love of music is our life, Your melody will never fade. Through every note, through every chord, Your heartbeat will remain.
