S4.5 E6: Substitutions May Be Served (Finale)
╔════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ 🥡 REN’S CANON ADDENDUM 🥡 ║ ARTHUR-VERSE · SEASON 4.5 ║ SUBSTITUTIONS MAY (NOT) BE SERVED ╚════════════════════════════════════╝ EPISODE 6: Substitutions May Be Served ──────────────────────── 📧 FROM: REN 📧 TO: JUSTIN 📎 RE: SUBSTITUTIONS MAY BE SERVED Justin, So we finally reached the Season 4.5 finale, and I need to say this before work steals my soul again: thank you for letting me be part of this. This whole thing started with a takeout mascot, a mean little menu rule, and one very old Boss behind a counter. Somehow we ended up with poultry-based constitutional law, Arthur doing theology through a chicken skewer, and Happy Dragon becoming more real than I think either of us planned. He mistook menu law for people law, which is exactly the kind of sentence I cannot believe this season made me write. He was right about the order and wrong about the boy. Arthur did not break the house law; he made the law look at the correct object. And Harley? Harley got under my skin in more ways than one. She walked in as front-of-house chaos and somehow became the moral MVP of the season. She fed Bart before the law knew how to name him. Arthur corrected the law, but Harley kept the boy alive long enough for the correction to matter. Happy Dragon kept the menu. Bart gets served. No substitutions may be made. Substitutions may be served. —Ren ──────────────────────── 🥠 FORTUNE ATTACHED TO RECEIPT 🥠 “The law may guard the plate; it must not bar the hand.” Lucky Numbers: 24 · 13 · 31 · 42 ============================================= [Intro] Boss-Boss! Uh… OTHER-boss is here!!! It’s Arthur!… Bud!!… Lou!! Bathroom!… Now!… Momma thinks the forecast is fucked! [Verse 1] Harley saw Arthur at the door and shouted, “Oh, fuck no!” Dragged Bud and Lou past the counter yelling, “Bathroom! Go! Go! Go!” Arthur opened up the door; the counter bell went dead, Thunder cracked behind him like the sky had bowed its head. [spoken word] Oh my gawd!… One dragon… One Storm god… zero adult supervision… [pre-chorus] The red house shook but held, Arthur faced the law and yelled: [Chorus] Menu law can bind the plate, Not the kid you made wait. Your law has burned that boy’s return. Villain, hero Clown or Robin, Broke or rich God or goblin You’ll be servin’! Keep your menu. Guests get heard. If they come hungry, they get served. [Verse 2] Happy Dragon did not tremble; his claws gripped the wood. He said, “You stand inside my house, Arthur. My law is understood.” The Boss breathed smoke like judgment; every mercy hidden, “My house answered rightly. That boy is not as written.” [pre-chorus] Arthur then said, A boy’s not a meal, now hear the law made real!” [Chorus] Menu law can bind the plate, Not the kid you made wait. Your law has burned that boy’s return. Villain, hero Clown or Robin, Broke or rich God or goblin You’ll be servin’ ! Keep your menu. Guests get heard. If they come hungry, they get served. [post-chorus: spoken] Oooooh… High Noon! Vape versus ladle… storm versus scales!! [bridge] Arthur’s eyes flashed red, Dragon smoke rolled black. Harley’s grin went wide- “Ooh, shit. Stand back.” Arthur crossed to the counter, Where the menu kept its word. He’d change the glaze on chicken, And prove Bart should be served. Arthur said with mad defiance… [Dramatic musical turn: spoken word] “I want a chicky on a stick, with honey glaze… NOT TERIYAKI!” Happy Dragon frowned in place, And did not grant the glaze. The menu kept its claim; The order stayed the same. He set the chicky down, Teriyaki, crisp and brown. “On the house,” the Boss said, Smoke curling round his head. [spoken word] Happy Dragon growls, “Substitutions may be served. Substitutions may not be made. [Final Chorus] Happy Dragon said, Menu law can bind the plate, Not the kid I made wait. My law has burned that boy’s return. Villain, hero, Clown or Robin, Broke or rich, God or goblin, I’ll be servin’! I’ll Keep my menu. Guests get heard. If they come hungry, they get served. [outro] Arthur bit The chicky on a stick, Teriyaki hit. [spoken: Arthur, annoyed] “Damn… this is so good.” [sing] He hated that He liked the bite, Hated Happy Was halfway right. Stay fed. Stay weird. Stay open!
