Boring Ain't Broken

Well, everybody's runnin' Tryin' to see who's first Somebody hollers “New” Like the old thing's got a curse Got a shiny new machine Got a brand-new way to go Everybody's talkin' 'bout it So I guess I'm supposed to know They say, “You gotta change, mister That's the way the future's rollin'” I said, “Son, before you fix it Can you tell me what it's broken?” Boring ain't broken Steady ain't slow If it does what you need it to Why you gotta let it go? New ain't always better Old ain't always wrong If the thing keeps on workin' Ask if it can do even better Boring ain't broken No, boring ain't broken I've seen folks chase a fashion Just to prove they're keepin' pace Buy a ticket on the newest train Before they know its destination or its place Everybody wants the latest Everybody wants the crown But when the shiny new contraption Breaks, who's gonna make it run? “Well. that's when they call the fixer.” Now I ain't against tomorrow I've got nothin' against new If a better road comes knockin' I'll be glad to travel too But don't tear down a good bridge Just because somebody built a bigger one And don't call it progress, baby If the work don't get better when you're done Boring ain't broken Steady ain't slow If it does what you need it to Why you gotta let it go? New ain't always better Old ain't always wrong If the thing keeps on workin' Ask if it can do even better Boring ain't broken Boring ain't broken There's a difference between standing still And knowing when to stay There's a difference between progress And changing every day A good foundation ain't a prison A steady hand ain't fear Sometimes moving forward Means keeping something good right here And if you find a better answer Well, brother, bring it on Just make sure it's better than the answer Before you prove the answer wrong Boring ain't broken Steady ain't slow You can build a better future Without burnin' down what you know Change what needs changin' Keep what still stands strong That's how you build something lasting That's how you carry it along Boring ain't broken Boring ain't broken You don't always need a shiny new hammer When the old one still gets the job done Boring ain't broken. “No, it ain't.” Boring ain't broken. “Just because it ain't on the news.” Boring ain't broken. “Don't mean it ain't workin'.”
