With degrees in both Music and Education, our mother always emphasized the unique power of setting vital lessons to melody. If the goal is long-term retention, music often carries ideas further than plain text—the structure of rhythm and tune acting as a potent mnemonic. It also has a way of “gently teaching,” delivering meaning in a softer, more engaging form. These songs are experiments in that spirit—attempts to pass along lessons I’ve found useful in my own life and that others might find meaningful as well. They aren’t confined to the styles I listen to most; each explores a different musical language to better carry its message, sometimes in forms that may resonate more with others than with my own usual preferences. Some tracks also serve as tributes to people who provide vital, often unrecognized contributions, while others are purely instrumental—ranging from traditional to more experimental pieces, created simply for the enjoyment of sound.
