Light Up

Experimental soul-pop with an infectious human groove, 104 BPM, Build the rhythm from fragmented percussion, finger snaps, breaths, knocks, distorted handclaps and chopped environmental sounds that breathe rather than conventional drum programming, Deep elastic bass moves against an off-kilter guitar loop that continually mutates, Soulful male vocal, intimate and playful, surrounded by strange chopped harmonies and rhythmic vocal responses, Euphoric chorus created through repetition and accumulating voices, then abruptly stripped back to almost nothing, Unexpected chord changes, displaced beats, stuttering edits, warped samples, reverse transients, pitch-bent instruments and microscopic rhythmic details, Bright, sensual and deeply alive, but never polished into conventional pop, Avant-garde production with an irresistible groove

[Verse 1] Got a dark cloud Hangin' over Little black hat On my shoulder Rain in my pocket Thunder in my shoes But I see a little blue Peeking through Mm-mm... yeah... [Pre-Chorus] Wait now Wait now Look what the light found Hey-uh! Right now Breaking through the blackout Uh! Come on... [Chorus] Sun, sun, sun Coming through Right through Me and you Cloud, cloud, cloud Move aside Let a little daylight Get inside Sun, sun, sun I can feel it I can feel it I can feel it Mm! I can feel it! [Post-Chorus] HEY! Look up! Look-look-look up! Hey-uh! Light up! La-la-la-light up! Uh! Yeah! [Verse 2] Got a rain check On the rain Got a bad day Missed my train Thunder talking Way too loud But I got a crack In the cloud Little bit of gold Little bit of blue Little bit of sky Coming through Ha! There it is... [Pre-Chorus] Wait now Wait now Look what the light found Hey-uh! Right now Breaking through the blackout Uh-huh! [Beat drops] Crack-crack-crack in the cloud... [Beat] Through... [Chorus] Sun, sun, sun Coming through Right through Me and you Cloud, cloud, cloud Move aside Let a little daylight Get inside Sun, sun, sun I can feel it I can feel it I can feel it Yeah-uh!
