HoG purred sweet through phantom blue, While bass and keys knew what to do. There in Foggy's Phoenix lounge the cat sang on stage and pranced around A wolverine in faux capy skin Plucked notes that shivered with otherworldly din. The wombat drummed a groovy beat, The tit’s piano slick and neat. It was music like a whispered dare— And even spirits pulled up a chair. [Verse 1] The set wound down, applause was cool, Sherlock raised a brow, playing the fool. "Care for a drink, HoG?" he said, "Just talk—no tricks. It’s time to clear your head." She eyed them both, her fur just so, Still humming chords too soft to show. Then nodded once, with half a grin— The cat agreed to let them in. [Verse 2] "Why sneak around with Puffin, that eve, when poor Carl met death in the trees?" She stirred her drink, her whiskers twitched, Her tone was velvet, low and stitched. "He was pissed, alright? Real heated- Carl moved the dam. His pond? Nearly depleted. That water meant all to his kin, his name... He burned so hot, I tried to tame him." [Bridge] "But Puffin claimed he flew with flock— Are you saying that’s all just a crock?" She laughed, a bitter little sigh, "Doc, that rubber duck can’t really fly. Anyway…he knew that the flock wouldn’t crack—(it’s duck-code stuff.) But me? I’ve had enough." "I won’t wear chains for his mistake, I tried to hold him, make him break. But he left me that night, alone with a frown- A storm of feathers, rage, and sound." [Verse 3] "Did he kill? I can’t confirm. I saw no blow, no violent turn. But murder? He was close, alright... I’ve never seen him quite that..." She rose to go—then caught her breath, Her tail curled like smoke near death. She sat again, a cat at ease, But something trembled in her knees. [Verse 4] "There’s more, detectives, I confess— Carl... was off, a real hot mess. He flirted more, his grin too wide— And drank that brew he used to chide. Coffee, yes. He hated beans— Said caffeine dulled his vivid dreams. But those last days? He sipped and swayed, Like someone else had moved his shade." [Outro] Slothson’s brow began to knit, Sherlock blinked, then leaned a bit. The door creaked soft—a shadow flit... A yellow form, then gone, a split. "Was that—?" Slothson mouthed. Sherlock stood. The chase was stirring in his blood. And somewhere down the hall that night, A duck ran silent through the light.
