A LITTLE MORE CONNECTED [INTRO] [Warm acoustic guitar, soft Hammond, gentle room tone] [VERSE 1] Walked in carrying questions More than one or two Carmen took her time with every one And talked the whole thing through She didn’t push the shiny box Or hurry toward the sale She showed me all my choices And let the truth prevail [PRE-CHORUS] Diana and the whole team Made an ordinary day Feel like people still remember How to treat you on the way [CHORUS] I came home a little more connected New glass shining in my hand But the finest part of anything Is still somebody who understands Everything secure, no pressure A fair deal and an open door The world got a little more connected And so did I, a little more [VERSE 2] Even someone on their break Took the time to say hello That small kindness carried farther Than they’ll probably ever know A phone, a tablet, glasses All talking through the air But none of that means half as much Without a little human care [INSTRUMENTAL TURNAROUND] [Weathered electric guitar answers the melody; no vocals] [VERSE 3] Back at home the old phone found me Like I’d never gone away Then the new one held our artwork Like a window on the day A transparent case, a private world A picture made by friends And a red-shirt dancer kicked up dust Before the daylight ends [PRE-CHORUS] From a five-star review in Hanford To a song beneath the moon Some days hand you little moments And they all begin to tune [CHORUS] I came home a little more connected New glass shining in my hand But the finest part of anything Is still somebody who understands Everything secure, no pressure A fair deal and an open door The world got a little more connected And so did I, a little more [BRIDGE] The newest thing will age someday Every signal comes and goes But patience leaves a stronger mark Than any screen can show You can measure bars and battery Count the miles from shore to shore But kindness is the current That we’re really reaching for [EXTENDED GUITAR NARRATIVE] [Slow expressive bends over acoustic guitar, Hammond and steady live drums; spacious, no vocals] [FINAL CHORUS] I came home a little more connected With a full day in my hands A song, a picture, one good review And people who understand Now the house is settling softly And the night is at the door The world got a little more connected And so did I— A little more [OUTRO] [Acoustic guitar and Hammond gradually settle] Yeah, the world got a little more connected And so did I A little more
