## Walking Together: Songs for Solidarity ## This is an entry in the Walking Together songwriting contest. The WEF estimates there are over 150 million people without homes worldwide. This project is aimed at supporting efforts to help people "made of potential" out of homelessness in co-operation with Homeless Entrepreneurs. [Verse 1] Under the overpass, feet scrape against gravel. Night folds in, a blanket too thin to keep the cold out. The world doesn’t pause- heels click by, eyes flick away. I breathe the city in, its weight heavier each day. [Chorus] I’m still here. Still skin, still bone, still a voice— though it fades against the noise. Not a ghost Still human Just need someone to show they care Still human Beneath the empty stare Still human with heart and soul Looking for a way out of the cold Still human [Verse 2] The rain speaks for me when no one will. It finds the cracks, washes the filth, leaves me raw. I wasn’t always this. There was a time, but time doesn’t listen when it takes everything away. [Chorus] I’m still here. Still flesh, still soul, still human— though you forget when you see me. Not a ghost Still human Just need someone to show they care Still human Beneath the empty stare Still human with heart and soul Looking for a way out of the cold Still human Huuuuman [Outro] The street hums a song I know too well. A lullaby of wheels, of whispers, of looking away. But I am still here. Still human
