I walked in wearin’ every stain, My past too loud to hide. Thought I had to clean the mess I made Before I stood by His side. But He met me in the shadows there, Didn’t flinch or turn away— He said, “Child, I loved you even then, Long before you prayed.” I tried to earn a seat at grace, Kept score and wore a mask. Thought if I could just be “good enough,” He’d bless me if I passed. But I heard Him whisper soft and true, “Your striving's not the key. You don’t have to reach for Me— I already came for thee.” 🎶 He loved me first, He saw my fall, Still opened wide His arms through it all. Not by works, not by worth, Just mercy pouring down like birth. I don’t have to earn this place— I just come and find His grace. Oh, what freedom, oh, what peace— To be loved before I said a thing. 🎶 Like the father watching down the road, He ran when I was near. Didn’t wait to hear my practiced speech— Just held me through my tears. No lectures, no delay or pause, No test I had to pass. Just a robe and ring, and a welcome song, And a love that always lasts. Now I live not to prove I’m saved, But to thank Him every day. He took me in just as I was— Grace met me on the way. And when I fall, I run to Him, Not away in shame or pride. He’s the Shepherd who still calls my name, And stays right by my side. 🎶 He loved me first, He saw my fall, Still opened wide His arms through it all. Not by works, not by worth, Just mercy pouring down like birth. I don’t have to earn this place— I just come and find His grace. Oh, what freedom, oh, what peace— To be loved before I said a thing. 🎶
