compassion is a door

never again is what I was taught after the war was fought never in history can we let that be well, it hasn't even been a full human century on your own hands you see the blood of your cousins [Chorus] Compassion is a door that swings both ways how can you care for one and not the other compassion is a door for all beings and for always for your own self and for each other you spend you days and nights working tirelessly finding homes and mending lives of for all the strays then you go home making fun of your daughter who won't eat that burger on the bun she says it used to have a soul and you laugh and say how could she think that way oh yes you do and your son has to compromise to be like all the rest mask and understand social cues but no one ever took the time to see life through his eyes [Chorus] Compassion is a door that swings both ways how can you care for one and not the other compassion is a door for all beings and for always for your own self and for each other you call yourself an empath and i see it everyday you embody oh yeah ,you sure can be it from your job to the fixer upper you married all the extra responsibilities you carried oooooohhhh ahhhhhhh but you know my friend somethings gotta give so when does it become your turn to live? you've got so much compassion for every body else but you've got none whatsoever for yourself [Chorus] Compassion is a door that swings both ways how can you care for one and not the other compassion is a door for all beings and for always for your own self and for each other Compassion is a door that swings both ways how can you care for one and not the other oooooohhh aaaahhhhh ooooohhhh ahhhhhhh compasssion is a door Words and music by Maryam El Sherif 2026 Flying Eggs music
