"When Did Karen Show Up?"

[Verse 1] Well when did we first hear ‘bout Karen? Back when I was just a kid? (no) Was it hangin’ in the seventies, When teen life’s all I did? (don’t think so) Eighties, nineties, life abuzz, Chasin’ dreams and dodgin’ fuzz Nah… folks kept quiet back then Didn’t make a public buzz [Pre-Chorus] We’d grumble low, not steal the show Just mind our business, let it go [Chorus] Then here she comes, loud and clear Early 2000s, she appears “Let me speak to your manager!” Ringin’ in everybody’s ears Rules don’t count, she’s standing tall Thinks they don’t apply at all Oh Karen… here she comes again Tryin’ to run us all [Verse 2] Whingin’ wasn’t how we rolled We got on with it, or so we’re told Sure we had a thing or two to say But kept it tucked away Then entitlement found a voice And oh boy did it make some noise Pointin’ fingers, makin’ scenes Turnin’ nothin' into somethin' [Chorus] Then here she comes, loud and clear Early 2000s, she appears “Let me speak to your manager!” Ringin’ in everybody’s ears Rules don’t count, she’s standing tall Thinks they don’t apply at all Oh Karen… here she comes again Tryin’ to run us all [Verse 3] Then 2020 hit the fan And chaos swept across the land Masks and rules, and public fights Turnin’ days to restless nights Aisleway wars for toilet rolls Fightin’ like it’s solid gold “It’s mine, not yours!” echo loud In the panic of the crowd [Bridge] Now I’m not one much for labels Most just cut and sting But when you meet a “Karen” Well… she owns that kind of thing Policin’ what we do Findin’ fault in all Standin’ tall on shaky ground Just waitin’ for the call [Final Chorus] Oh here she stands, front and stage Full of fire, full of rage But hey Karen, hear me now Time to turn the page You don’t need to run the show Or tell us where to go We all answer in the end That’s somethin’ you should know [Outro] So pull your head in, take a breath We’re all just passin’ through And Karen… just remember now… That rule applies to you
