CHORUS Little lessons taught to us Help guide us through our life Ponder on them Measure the depth of their light. My mum and dad fed me wisdom My school shovelled it too, Work taught me a few truths Then life honed the sharpest few. Verse1 EVERYTHING HAS IT'S PLACE --- Everything has a place and there is a place for everything --- This a good one ...... A place for your shoes, A place for your clothes, A place for the books ..... Then ..... There's a place to stash, A place to shove, A place to hide ..... all those things that you just can't find a place for .....YET I've got that one down.. ...Professionally. (Music interlude) Verse2 ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST --- Whatever you do --- Always do the best you can --- Drummed into me as a kid, Sometimes too forcefully, With the thumping of the fist Table legs did shake. "That's not your best" My Dad would cry. Well I've modified that one a bit .... to .... Don't expect perfection --- just do..'YOUR'.. best That's all anyone should expect!!! When I think about that ....... if I'm in an accident ---- I don't know if my underwear would be clean... ... "you think about that" .... mmmm not so sure about that one. [Music interlude] Verse4 ....EAT YOUR CRUSTS... A personal favourite of my mum's --- "Eat your crust so your hair will go curly" --- I've proved this one a lie. Oh yeah!!! [Spoken as an exclamation] ... I ate all my crusts when I was a kid And all I got was to look like a plump little dumpling There was no curls happening on this round head. ......"Straight as sticks."... Verse5 NEVER LEAVE THE ROOM EMPTY-HANDED Now this one’s gold - pure gold --- "Never leave a room empty handed" --- Always look for something that needs to be returned Perhaps to another room, or taken to the bin. Even better still, it helps to fulfill that little gem of wisdom..... "There's a place for everything and everything in its place" - So quickly off you go and stash it, shove it, hide it ...
