╔════════════════════════════════════╗ ║ WELCOME TO THE ARTHUR-VERSE · S2 ║ ╚════════════════════════════════════╝ Arthur is a self-created author and storm god. He believes he created this world. The City of Owl’s Walk (O.W.) — inspired by Gotham City — has become self-aware… and calls herself **Mother**. Arthur becomes trapped inside the **Hall of Memory**: a vast museum lined with interactive paintings, each one representing a defining moment in Owl’s Walk’s history. Each painting is a memory. Each memory can be entered. Each memory carries consequences that defined the city. Throughout this season, Arthur is guided by: • **Smokey Lois** — a sharp-tongued, time-keeping guide acting as Arthur’s tether back from memory. ──────────────────────────────────── **RULES OF THE HALL OF MEMORY** 🚫 Memories of O.W. must not be rewritten 🚫 Changing canon risks erasing the world 🚭 **NO SMOKING** ──────────────────────────────────── ⸻ 🚐🔥📁 CANON MEMORY · ARCHIVAL RECORD 📁🔥🚐 ──────────────────────────────────── This memory depicts the death of Jared, the Arthur-verse counterpart to Jason Todd from Batman canon. Names and details shift to avoid one-to-one replication, but the narrative function remains the same: a young vigilante dies violently, and that death becomes a foundational wound in the city’s history. Unlike other canon moments, this event offers no heroism, no triumph, and no reversal. It exists to demonstrate the cost of continuity—the price paid so the rest of the story can exist as it does. Arthur enters this memory by mistake, believing he has chosen a “safe” scene involving criminals and machinery rather than children. Once inside, he recognizes it immediately. Disguised in medic gear, Arthur confirms what the memory already knows: the doors are locked, the bomb will detonate, and saving Jared would require a full rewrite that would fracture the world and erase the people Arthur loves. He refuses to intervene. Instead, he offers only comfort—relief from fear and pain in the final moments. The memory completes as designed: the van explodes, Arthur survives, and Jared does not. The song documents restraint, not failure—and marks the point where that restraint begins to crack. ──────────────────────────────────── ⚠️🔥📎 MEMORY PRESERVED · NO OBJECT RECOVERED 📎🔥⚠️ [verse 1: build up] Marble whispers vanish; I wake in a van, hands on the wheel. Medic gear locks down while the dashboard lights wash over steel. A blinking bomb under my chair. In back, a boy folds—gash wet in his hair. It’s Jared, hog-tied, torn mask, breath thin. Tooth gone, black hair; blood slicks his chin. He drags his hands to the latch—it’s sealed. He slams against the door; the frame stays steel. Lois in my skull keeps chanting rules. Don’t reach for miracles; don’t act the fool. I grip the handle; it answers: no. Locked from the outside—this mem’rie says so. My palms want thunder; I fold my hands. The Hall wants witness, not last stands. I whisper, “Not a hero,” keep still. I swallow down godhood by force of will. [refrain] I’m not a hero— don’t cage me here. I’m not a hero— I hold the fear. The timer blinks; it steals my breath. I count it down and call it death. [verse 2: dynamic performance, dark choirs] The bomb still ticks; my nerves go quick. (tick tick tick) I said, “Locked outside”—the latch won’t click. (tick tick tick) Jared spun around, fear sharp in his eyes— like, wait, someone’s here… and time won’t compromise. He rasped, “Who are you? Say your name.” I said, “Arthur. The Author.” It’s not a game. He scoffed, “That’s not a job—you’re some bad comic”— loud. I laughed, “Yeah, sometimes—but I’m a god,”—hands down. He snarled, “Then help me—don’t just watch and wait.” He spat, “What did I do to earn this fate?” I said, “I can’t—my whole world hangs on this hinge, or every love I’ve ever held will vanish”—and I cringe. [refrain] I’m not a hero—don’t reach for grace. I’m not a hero—I stay in my place. The timer bites; it eats my last spark. If I play hero, I snuff the world dark. [bridge: breathy vocalist performance, emotional, sad, empathy, tearful] Jared said, “It’s stupid—none of this makes sense.” I said, “I have a Law. Of Return…” my thin defense. He rasped, “I don’t care—your laws are straw.” His eyes stayed on me, daring me to thaw My pulse runs hot, then drops too low. Like I’m the bomb and nobody knows
I passed my vape and offered him my breath. I said, “It calms your fear, pulls pain from death.” He dragged it in too hard, then coughed to rest. For just one beat, the fear slipped from his chest. I took it back; my eyes stayed barely blue. Magma begged to rise; I forced it down—stay true. He whispered, “What’s next?” I said, “Out of time.” Then fire ate the van, loud as rhyme.
I feel it rise—then I choke it back. I don’t save him. I just watch it crack

 I don’t save him….
I’m not a hero…
I’m a… [refrain] I’m not a hero—don’t look at me. I’m not a hero—don’t make me see. The bomb keeps humming under prayer. I’m not a hero— I lived; you stayed in there.
