The Raven (Evermore!) [SSC3 Poetry Challenge]

June 21, 2024 at 12:51 PMv3

[Intro] Once upon a, midnight dreary, (Midnight dreary, midnight dreary!) While I pondered, weak and weary, (Weak and weary, weak and weary!) Over, many, a quaint, and curious, volume of forgotten lore -- (Oh no, the forgotten lore! Woah- oh!) While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, (Tap, tap, tap, tap! Tap, tap, tap, tap!) As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door, door! "'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door - Only this and nothing more. (Ohhh, nevermore, nevermore, Oh!) [Chorus] The black raven sits there spreading it's wings, (wings) While I sit here contemplating all these things, (things) while flying high in the sky, future's neigh, undefined, a worldview of mine, in this rhyme to shine, it's sublime while I cry and rise and shine, to the occasion, so I can be the best guy, of all time, It's not easy dealing with all this and more, That's why I stare at the sky and scream, Nevermore! (Ohhh, Nevermore!) (Ohhh, Nevermore!) [Verse] Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter, (yeah) In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore, (yore) Not the least obeisance made he, not a minute stopped or stayed he, (he) But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -- (My chamber door!) Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -- (My chamber door!) Perched, and sat, and nothing more. That's why I scream, nevermore. [Chorus] The black raven sits there spreading it's wings, (wings) While I sit here contemplating all these things, (things) while flying high in the sky, future's neigh, undefined, a worldview of mine, in this rhyme to shine, it's sublime while I cry and rise and shine, to the occasion, so I can be the best guy, of all time, It's not easy dealing with all this and more, That's why I stare at the sky and scream, Nevermore! (Ohhh, Nevermore!) (Ohhh, Nevermore!) [Verse] Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling, by the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore, (wore) "Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven, ghastly grim and ancient Raven, (Raven) wandering from the Nightly shore - Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!" Quoth the Raven "Nevermore." [Instrumental] [Outro] And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door; And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming, And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor; And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted - nevermore! [End] [Ohhh, nevermore!] [End]
