oh, what a world is this what a world we find ourselves in chasing crowds, chasing trends til we bleed another day here I never asked to see pay out— pay up— pay off— pay in— make it hurt, make it end make it come back again life is made of echoes a circular parade Watch as it goes marching On the edge of the blade We are chasing whispers of gossip of ghosts Hoping it’ll find us Doing better than most I’ve got a headache From the bed wake Up i’ll be dead weight Up for me i know its late But Im in a bad state The city is causing the distance to show but I’ve seen what I saw and I know what I know I should leave now go to sleep now but i just don’t think I can be in the deep now that’s not usually the case but last night I felt like slowing the pace you wanted to talk so I stayed and I’d share if you came out tonight I’d lay it all bare all of my issues and all of my pain let’s go someplace where we can’t see the rain(y) days are for blankets coffee and books drink too much of the broth and you’ll spoil the cook they say all dogs go to heaven but you never can tell which of the good boys is the best boy in hell what a world what a world is this that we keep grinding through cuts from green paper plastic as truth tell me your name your number, your street shatter my ribcage and kick in my teeth I’m here for the hunger I’m here for the pain I’m here to get wasted while my mind is reclaimed I scream at the silence that hides in my phone 8 billion people but no one is home see through the static the shadows, the smoke distortions, illusions am I having a stroke of genius? no one sees us just between us I really need this there’s too many people but this party is lit There’s a line for the bathroom But I’ll take what I get not a lot to be fair to be right to be wrong to be left in the night When it lasts for so long the game clock is zero can you feel it run out? don’t know what’s worse— the anger or doubt I got back on the horse to get back in the race Tie a rope to the rafters and jump into space they say all saints go to heaven but you never can guess which of the devils is dressed to impress what a world what a world is this where we keep all our stuff but if you asked my opinion I’d say enough is enough stars all exploded a billion years back we’re waiting it out now tied to the tracks our heroes are bleeding our idols are blind Our clocks chewing patterns in the fabric of time I’ve wasted my life I’ve wasted my name Your love is a weapon but you need better aim meaning and money don’t rhyme but they dance wherever you end up you got there by chance there’s gold in the hills but there are monsters too there are things in the wild just as mundane as you heartache to heartache I bleed till I bleed can’t speak for the others but you’re beautiful to me What a world is this That we are paying for Handfuls of dust and we keep making more
