[Verse] The bombs whistle, it fills the world Like rain trapped in a metal tube Orange fire spilling off the pyre While everybody holds their breath and stalls Then someone clears her throat on-air Like she’s not sure we are prepared Says, “Folks, I need you close to home…” And suddenly the world is ablaze [Chorus] We interrupt your regular broadcast The world is fire, it's happening quite fast It's there, It's gone We're suddenly a blazing ball We interrupt your regular broadcast [Verse] The sky turns dark over our town That strong orange, an unworthy crown Not storm-cloud dark, not sunrise bright Just something that explodes in the night Streetlights flicker, dogs all whine "The world, it's no longer mine" And down the freeway, hard to see A bright shadow growing as fast as it could be [Pre-Chorus] The picture breaks, then disintegrates Like fear itself has found a face [Chorus] We interrupt your regular broadcast The world is fire, it's happening quite fast It's there, It's gone We're suddenly a blazing ball We interrupt your regular broadcast [Bridge] No words audible, no quietness Just layered audio, hard to the deafness Like someone screeching through the sky Trying to teach us a new life Are we a warning? Are we to pray? Do we stop, or run away? The anchor whispers, “Stay inside and stay tight,” As a bright light blooms across the sky [Chorus] We interrupt your regular broadcast Hold your loved ones close, it’s moving fast It's here, it's there And now the whole world hears We interrupt your regular broadcast
