Yeah, That’s Not Helping (Remix)

[Spoken — lead, conversational] It didn’t come kickin’ down the door. Didn’t raise its voice. Just leaned in close like it had a favor to offer. [Verse 1] Garden still, evenin’ air Every good thing everywhere Then a question slipped the line Sounded clever, sounded kind Didn’t say, “Run away” Didn’t say, “Break the rule” Just bent the truth a half a step Called it thinkin’, called it cool [Call] Mm-hmm [Response — lead] Yeah… that’s not helping [Chorus] Yeah, that’s not helping No, that’s not true Any voice that pulls you inward Leaves you alone with you Yeah, that’s not helping We learned it slow Anything that says “decide it here” Won’t lead you home [Spoken] It always asks like it’s improving the plan. Never tells you what it costs. [Verse 2] Did God really say it so? Maybe there’s another road Maybe you should take control Maybe trust is gettin’ old Sounded calm, sounded fair Sounded like a second thought But we forgot to say it out loud And that’s where it caught [Call] Say it out loud [Response — lead] Bring it back [Chorus] Yeah, that’s not helping Hear how it moves Any thought that needs the dark Isn’t tellin’ you the truth Yeah, that’s not helping We know the sign If it pulls you from the table It’s crossin’ the line [Bridge] Truth don’t hide Truth don’t rush Truth don’t flatter pride like that Truth stays wide Calls us up Keeps us together, keeps us flat [Spoken] If it won’t survive the circle, It wasn’t meant to lead. [Final Chorus] Yeah, that’s not helping Now we can say Every lie falls quiet When the people pray Yeah, that’s not helping We answer strong What we don’t decide alone Can’t lead us wrong [Tag] We don’t listen alone We don’t listen alone
