[Verse 1] High above the sleeping town, Two men listen for the sound, with a keyboard at each hand, Morgan listens 'cross the land. One brings murder, war and rain, One repeats an unknown name, A city missing from the map— Xebico comes typing back. [Pre-Chorus] Dot and dash, From the spire, Something whispers Through the wire. [Chorus] NIGHT WIRE! Something’s calling from below! NIGHT WIRE! From a city no one knows! Static screaming, dead men speaking, Fog is climbing higher— NIGHT WIRE! NIGHT WIRE! There’s a voice inside the wire! [Verse 2] Fog came crawling from the graves, Rolled across the streets in waves, Every lamp was swallowed whole, Something breathed beneath the cold. First they sent a rescue crew, They lost the second one there too, Screaming started in the mist, From the places darkness kissed. [Pre-Chorus] Lock the doors, Kill the light, Something’s walking Through the night. [Chorus] NIGHT WIRE! Something’s calling from below! NIGHT WIRE! From a city no one knows! Static screaming, dead men speaking, Fog is climbing higher— NIGHT WIRE! NIGHT WIRE! There’s a voice inside the wire! [Verse 3] From the thirteenth floor he sees Colors moving through the streets, Shapes beside the fallen men Feeding as the fog rolls in. Lights are leaping through the sky, Closer every time they rise, One last sentence strikes the keys— The wire is a dead sky's breeze. [Chorus] NIGHT WIRE! Something’s calling from below! NIGHT WIRE! From a city no one knows! Static screaming, dead men speaking, Fog is climbing higher— NIGHT WIRE! NIGHT WIRE! There’s a voice inside the wire! [Verse 4] Then the final words came broken, Every letter struck too slow: “Something’s climbing up the stairwell— Something found us down below.” Then the tapping turned to scratching, Then a wet and dragging sound, Morgan smiled without awakening As the fog reached into town. [Bridge] “Morgan, wake up. Morgan, speak.” Cold hands resting On the keys. Dead for hours, Stiff and blue— Still he typed What wandered through. Was it Xebico below? Was it somewhere no maps show? Did the fog reach through his mind And find a doorway in the wire? [Final Chorus] NIGHT WIRE! Something’s calling from below! NIGHT WIRE! From a city no one knows! Static screaming, dead men speaking, Fog is climbing higher— NIGHT WIRE! NIGHT WIRE! There’s a voice inside the wire! NIGHT WIRE! Something’s calling from below! NIGHT WIRE! From a city no one knows! Static screaming, dead men speaking, Fog is climbing higher— NIGHT WIRE! NIGHT WIRE! There’s a voice inside the wire! [Outro] Dot. Dash. Silence. "Xebico was never there..."
