Folks, Sometimes life leads you into chapters you never expected to face. For a few years now, my family and I have been moving through one of those quieter, heavier stretches. About three weeks ago, my daughter had to return to the clinic for another few months of treatment. As a father, it’s a feeling you can’t really prepare for - the house grows still, small routines fade and the moments that usually fill the day simply aren’t there anymore. I tried to pour all of that into this song - this “quiet war” we’re both navigating in our own ways. And honestly, writing this song wasn't easy. “Oxygen” was probably my most emotional track so far, because to a certain degree it told my own story. But when it’s your child going through something difficult, everything takes on a different depth. In that sense, this song carries the torch forward. “Someone Else” became a very personal, quietly sad piece - but I think there’s hope in it too. I’m sharing it with you because maybe someone out there needs to hear that they’re not alone in whatever battle they’re fighting. This song is the lighthouse I’m holding for my daughter until she finds her way back home, stronger, steadier - ... and with a little more weight on her body. Eileen, my light stays on... until you're back. These days it shines in a stranger shade of blue, A sharpened light that cuts right through. I walk into the kitchen to start up the day, But I'm drifting like a ghost along my usual way. Nothing can fix the state that I'm in, Or change this feeling that's crawling under my skin. [Verse 2] Man, this coffee tastes so bitter, I can barely get it down. I bet this time it will go cold, Before I even turn around. Hell, I'm missing all the stories, That you would usually tell. I just want back those brighter days, Before you slipped under that dark spell. [Pre-Chorus] Damn, it's so hard, Hard to go on, When you're not around. It feels like the best, Best part of me, Isn't walking with me now! [Chorus] Even in summer the world slows me down, Down to a freezing pace. Who's actually that man in the mirror, Carrying this tired and heavy face? Every sensation feels so distant and wrong, Like being trapped in a place where I just don't belong. This quiet war inside, that you keep fighting yourself, Forced both of us to live in two separate worlds. And until the day you're coming home, I'll just feel like someone else. Someone else. [Verse 3] The music you used to listen to, Those mellow tunes, now they're all gone. The Discord calls with your friends fell silent... No more YouTube sessions till the break of dawn. I miss the times you just walked up, nudging me, saying, "LOOK AT THIS! - this clip's just pure smoke!" The way you’d hold up your phone to my face, To share each meme and every single joke. [Verse 4] Goddamn, it's breaking me inside, That I can't hold you near. I'd trade all I cherish to show you my love, To hug you close, my lovely dear. [Pre-Chorus] It's so hard, Hard to go on, Without you around. And the best, Best part of me, Still is nowhere to be found! [Chorus] Even in deep summer the world slows me down, Down to a freezing pace. Who's actually that man in the mirror, Carrying this tired and heavy face? Every sensation feels so distant and wrong, Like being trapped in a place where I just don't belong. This quiet war inside, that you keep fighting yourself, Forced both of us to live in two separate worlds. And until the day you're coming home, I'll just feel like someone else!! Just someone else! [Bridge] You grew so faint with every passing month, Trapped in a twisted view. And the shades clinging to your mind, They still veil what’s real and true. You're fighting your way back, but never forget, You don't fight it alone! I’m holding the lighthouse, I keep watching the coastline, Till you make it back home! [Final Chorus] Every sensation, Feels so distant and wrong. It's like being trapped in a place, Where I just don't belong. [Outro] Still we're bound to live in separate worlds, And until you're finally coming home. I'll just feel like someone else. I'll just feel like... ... someone else.
