Where have you been when I needed you most? I always felt out of place and you acted the host. I missed your support and the freedom from danger. You made me feel like a loser, so I felt like a stranger. You never believed in me and you ruined my youth. You never trusted me, though I always told the truth. Other people's opinions were more important than mine. In your eyes I was worthless because YOU couldn't shine. Why did you walk all over my feelings and me? Why couldn't you love me and just wait and see? Why was I never good enough, though I stood the test when the going got tough? Your cant and your lies have changed my whole life. I felt wretched, unwanted and I was unable to thrive. As a child you can't escape the toxic grown-ups. Children need love and caring as well as little pups. You only gave love as long as I performed well. When I went my own way, you made my life hell. Reproaches and strife made me always lose heart. But I forged ahead and I have made a new start.
