Kitchen Floor Holiday

[Verse 1] Takeout cooling on the kitchen side You kick your shoes into a crooked line I missed the train, you missed your lunch We call a bag of chips a starter course The rent went up, the kettle broke You hand me a wooden spoon and say, "Your solo" [Pre-Chorus] We can leave the dishes where they are Turn this little room into somewhere far [Chorus] Kitchen floor holiday Move the chairs and get away We don't need a week of perfect weather Just a little room to move together Kitchen floor holiday Spin the tired right out of the day Tomorrow's gonna knock, but it can wait We're on a kitchen floor holiday [Verse 2] The fridge light makes a funny spotlight Your favorite sweater fits the mood just right I miss a step and nearly lose the bread You catch the plate and bow your head Nobody here to call us cool That's what makes this place the place I'd choose [Pre-Chorus] We can leave the dishes where they are Turn this little room into somewhere far [Chorus] Kitchen floor holiday Move the chairs and get away We don't need a week of perfect weather Just a little room to move together Kitchen floor holiday Spin the tired right out of the day Tomorrow's gonna knock, but it can wait We're on a kitchen floor holiday [Bridge - intimate solo vocal, piano and strings] There are places we still want to see Let's save for those, but promise me We won't leave every happy thing Waiting for a better week [Instrumental interlude - orchestra and rhythm section, no vocals] [Final Chorus] Kitchen floor holiday Move the chairs and get away We don't need a week of perfect weather Just a little room to move together Kitchen floor holiday Spin the tired right out of the day Tomorrow's gonna knock, but it can wait We're on a kitchen floor holiday [Outro] Leave one light on Keep that record going Kitchen floor holiday
