[Verse] The freight rolls in like a ghostly train Where did the sun go left me in the rain September whispered and summer ran away Now shadows stretch long they’re here to stay [Prechorus] Leaves crackle loud under my feet The air’s grown sharp no summer heat [Chorus] Oh my oh my the freight has come Scared off the warmth scared off the sun Just in time for the pumpkins to gleam It’s the scares of Halloween it’s the scares of Halloween [Verse 2] Night paints the skies with a crooked brush Streetlights flicker in a ghostly hush Wind laughs low through the hollow trees Summer’s gone lost in the breeze [Bridge] Candy bowls and haunted dreams Jack-o’-lanterns grin with devilish schemes The freight of fall it’s here to stay The ghosts and goblins have their way [Chorus] Oh my oh my the freight has come Scared off the warmth scared off the sun Just in time for the pumpkins to gleam It’s the scares of Halloween it’s the scares of Halloween
