[Title] Give Them The Chance Early [Verse 1] I wasn’t always in technology That came later for me I had to find my way Had to build my own opportunities That’s why when I look at my son I see a different road I want him to start further ahead I don’t want him carrying the same load He’s a bright kid Wants to be an engineer My job isn’t telling him who to be My job is helping him get there [Hook] Give them the chance early Open up the door You never know what a young mind Might be looking for Give them the chance early That’s what this is for A little opportunity today Can become so much more [Verse 2] I’m from Trinidad My family’s Jamaican too Soca in my heartbeat Reggae in my roots Calypso taught me stories The drum taught me time Music taught me how to listen Before I learned to rhyme Percussion is my language Rhythm is my trade Every beat reminds me Of the communities that raised me [Bridge] STEM became STEAM That’s important to me Because art belongs with science Like roots belong with trees Not everybody learns the same Not everybody sees the same way Sometimes a drumstick changes a life Sometimes a paintbrush saves the day [Final Hook] Give them the chance early Open up the door You never know what a young mind Might be looking for Give them the chance early That’s what this is for A little opportunity today Can become so much more [Outro] I want him to have opportunities earlier That’s it That’s the whole vision That’s the whole thing
