Written by DragonHug --- Once there was a moth who was too big to fly. Muff was his name, and his friends could go high. He tried and tried, jumped and flapped and flapped and jumped. But he could not get off the ground. The other moths flew towards lanterns, fireflies and even the moon, while Muff was left behind, down in the dark on his own. --- Muff grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger. Until he was so big that he was called: 'Muff the Big Big Moth' He never did learn to fly, but he learned that if he holds onto others, they can't leave him alone on the ground. So Muff the Big Big Moth loved to hug. But he had to learn how to hug, squeeze too tight and hurt is done, squeeze too little and feel no warmth. Hug someone very mean extra hard! So they are sorry and will be kind again. Hug someone that did not want a hug at all, and no friend is made! --- When Muff the Big Big Moth was fully grown. Everyone started calling him simply 'Muff' because it took too long to say: 'Muff the Big Big Big Big Moth' When moths are grown up they go on journeys. His friends flew one way or the other, over The Deep Woods, and over White-Peak Mountain, and the Swamp With No Name. The Deep Woods are called what they are called, because they are very deep and have roots that reach into the world. White-Peak Mountain is called what it is called, because it is very tall and its peak sees the first and last rays of the sun. Swamp With No Name is called what it is called, because no one can remember what its name was. Muff chose to go through The Deep Woods for his journey, since he was scared of falling off White-Peak Mountain, or getting wet and icky in the Swamp With No Name. And because he thought there lived more not-friends-yets in the woods. Into the woods Muff went. --- Once further into the deep woods, he could not see the stars anymore, and it got dark. Really dark. Muff had not thought about that, and said to himself that The Deep Woods should have been called The Very Dark Woods, or 'The Deep Dark Woods' or 'The Scary Do Not Go In There Woods' Muff sat, and hugged himself. Until he saw something bright in the black, something blue and pink shimmering around. And it was not high up in the sky, it was among the stones and trunks on the ground. Muff bumbled and ran towards the blue and pink lights: thwump-thwump-thwump-thwump He ran through bramble and bush: crick-crack-creck The twigs and branches that stuck only made sounds when they snapped. He reached the little friends of light and hugged them. And they hugged back. Then they disappeared. Before Muff could be sad, he saw more bright ahead. There were spots of light, all over a big wall of dark green. Normal blue light of day this time. He rustled through The Deep Wood's thick edge, into a green field, with a town behind it. Muff had not noticed that his floof now had pink and blue spots on it, with thorns underneath. Because he was busy running towards the town, where he saw lots of bright homes, and lots of friends to hug.
