In StorytellerZ Ville he is known as The Reverend – a man of the cloth, carrying the Bible in one hand and the town’s secrets in the other. By daylight, he stands in the pulpit, thundering about sin, virtue, and salvation, his voice echoing through the wooden beams of the small church. People fear his sermons as much as they admire his authority, and his words carry weight with the sheriff, the mayor, and every rancher who seeks his blessing. But when the sun sets, the mask slips. The preacher drinks whiskey in the shadows of the saloon, plays cards with a gambler’s smile, and finds company in the arms of women he condemns from the altar. He knows every secret whispered in confession and uses them as chains, binding the townsfolk tighter than any lawman’s rope. Some whisper that he carries a darker past – that he was no true preacher at all, but a drifter who stepped into another man’s robes. Others say he hides blood on his hands, a crime buried beneath prayers and hymns. To some, he is the town’s shepherd. To others, he is the wolf in black. And only he knows how long his sermon will last before the devil himself comes to collect. ------------------------------------------- The Preacher I wear the cross, I speak of grace, A holy man in a wicked place. The sheriff bows, the mayor prays, But my soul walks darker ways. I’m the preacher with a shadowed heart, Tearing every sacred vow apart. Behind the hymns, the whiskey calls, And in the saloon I confess it all. They tell me secrets in the night, And I keep them buried out of sight. But every sin that they reveal, Turns into chains of iron and steel. I’m the preacher with a shadowed heart, Tearing every sacred vow apart. Behind the hymns, the whiskey calls, And in the saloon I confess it all. “You kneel to pray, I deal the cards… The gospel’s written in broken hearts. A hand of sin, a girl’s soft skin, That’s where my sermon will begin.” I’m the preacher with a shadowed heart, Tearing every sacred vow apart. Behind the hymns, the devil grins, For I’m the preacher… and these are my sins. I’m the preacher with a shadowed heart, Tearing every sacred vow apart. Behind the hymns, the devil grins, For I’m the preacher… and these are my sins.
