Lyrics by Valgrind for Iron Legacy. A tribute to Iron Maiden. Verse 1 The pipes they cry across the glen, The clans unite as steel again, For crown and country, hearts ablaze, The lion roars through battle haze. Verse 2 Through mist and rain the banners fly, The red coats march, the young men die, But freedom’s fire shall never fade, For Scotland’s blood the price is paid. Chorus Ride on, ride on, for the Jacobite rising! Through thunder and storm, the spirit’s devising! Raise the banner, the Highland is calling! Stand for the king, though kingdoms are falling! Verse 3 From Culloden’s moor to Skye’s far shore, The ghosts still sing of days of yore, Their songs of loss, of hope, of flame, Of Scotland’s pride, of freedom’s name. Verse 4 Though time has buried sword and bone, Their courage carved in mountain stone, The blood that flowed through heart and steel, Still burns in those who never kneel. Chorus Ride on, ride on, for the Jacobite rising! Through thunder and storm, the spirit’s devising! Raise the banner, the Highland is calling! Stand for the king, though kingdoms are falling! (Long twin guitar solo) Bridge Through the valley of tears – we rise again! Through the shadow of fear – we break the chain! For the heart of the north still beats the same, Through every loss, through every flame! Final Chorus (Variation) Ride on, ride on, for the Jacobite rising! Through thunder and storm, the spirit’s devising! Raise the banner, the Highland is calling! Stand for the king, though kingdoms are falling! Ride on, ride on, for the Jacobite rising! Through thunder and storm, the spirit’s devising! Raise the banner, the Highland is calling! Stand for the king, though kingdoms are falling! Ride on, ride on, through blood and through fire! Scotland forever – the clans never tire! Lyrics by Valgrind.
