Keys in my hand, but I don’t see the door. I’m down the stairs and out the street like someone walked me through it. Coffee goes cold and I don’t notice when. Green light, turnstile I’m already in. I just… exist. I can’t trace the way. Somewhere from home to here, I got skipped. This route knows me, better than I do. Somewhere from home to here, I got skipped. Badge beep, morning voice I answer like a reflex. Words leave my mouth without passing through me. Lunch is just another room, another light, and nothing changes. My body clocks in before I do. Shoes off. Silence on the floor. I sit down and the day finally reaches me. In the dark I check myself like I’m looking for something I dropped, and all I find is the empty space it left. I just… exist. I can’t trace the way. Somewhere from home to here, I got skipped. This route knows me, better than I do. Somewhere from home to here, I got skipped. Tomorrow do I wake up… or do I just resume?
