Northbound [ENG/TAG]
Our protagonist leaves Manila carrying tension, doubt, and silence. “Northbound” follows his overnight journey toward Ilocos, where the darkness slowly softens and his thoughts shift from guarded English into open Tagalog. A quiet, cinematic awakening created in collaboration with Elvorin ; based on the novel, Orange: The Color of Sunset. Manila flickers through the window, a tired constellation of neon sins. I slide into a seat that smells of rain, old stories, and someone else's grief. The driver dims the station lights-- and the darkness finally lets me breathe. Northbound, where the highway hums like a warning. Northbound, where I’m still afraid of what I’m mourning. The city pulls apart in fragments-- stray dogs, shuttered stalls, billboards screaming futures I could never live at all. Every mile unthreads a burden, loosening the weight I’ve worn. I didn’t leave to start again-- I left because I felt unborn. Northbound, somewhere na super quiet yung gabi. Northbound, where everything finally feels... like, legit free. The mountains rise like shadows na parang nag-rereset uleet. A thin gold line breaks the sky, teka lang, parang ayaw kong ma-overwhelm, shit. For the first time in years, I breathe and it actually feels okay-- like, teka lang, ganito pala yung vibe when you're not carrying the whole world every day. The bus keeps rolling steady, na para bang may sariling heartbeat. Everyone else is sleeping, each one with their own drama. I lean my head against the window, watching the night turn into something warm and kind. Manila’s still there, of course-- pero it feels so far, like a phase I finally left behind. I don’t know who I’ll be when I reach the end, to be honest-- but O.M.G., for the first time, the not knowing actually feels... nice.
