Love Found a Way This Christmas
[Verse 1] We packed the car, the five of us, Headed to Mom’s in the country dust. Dad’s been gone for a year or so, Now she’s out there all alone. The road was dark, the air was still, Our hearts heavy, but our love would fill. [Prechorus] Knocked on the door, hands cold, hearts warm, But a stranger’s face broke the norm. [Chorus] "I'm sorry," we said, "this must be wrong, We came to see my mom, where she belongs." The old man sighed, his eyes cast low, "I lost my wife, years ago." But love found a way, this Christmas night, In a stranger’s heart, in the firelight. [Verse 2] He looked so tired, so full of pain, A shadow walking in winter’s rain. We couldn’t leave him, not tonight, We said, "Come with us, share our light." He paused, then nodded, hat in hand, A silent man with a broken stand. [Chorus] "I'm sorry," we said, "this must be wrong, We came to see my mom, where she belongs." The old man sighed, his eyes cast low, "I lost my wife, years ago." But love found a way, this Christmas night, In a stranger’s heart, in the firelight. [Bridge] Around the table, the laughter grew, Mom’s old smile, something new. They shared their stories, they shared their grief, And found in each other, a quiet relief. The tree lights glowed, the snow did fall, And love, oh love, it answered the call.
