[LUXURIA] - The Crimson Nest From Whence None Shall Fly
HOSI NO MAKIMONO Twenty-Ninth Release: "[LUXURIA] - The Crimson Nest From Whence None Shall Fly" There are no lyrics for this song. Instead, I invite you to listen closely and share with me what kind of story it is able to paint for you with instruments alone. The title of this song, [LUXURIA], might be familiar to anyone who followed the annotations of one of my previous songs, [GULA]. This song takes the excerpt of the character that was featured in that song and expands on it further, carrying similar elements and themes. Getting to fully explore this character from new angles while trying to illustrate that through sound was a rather enjoyable project. This song seeks to portray the unsightly unveiling of one who has no qualms with forsaking the entire world, their life held aloft only by their obsessive desire for the sole target of their insatiable lust. Stagnating within the rot of their nest, they await the day when their prey comes to rely on them alone — when they will sink down together into deadly sin. The crow's crimson gaze was once mistaken for gentle protection, looking out for its neighbor with watchful responsibility and taking them under its wing when they had none to turn to. These days were ones of relaxation and mundane bliss, savoring each other's company and indulging in innocent fun with no regard for the world beyond the nest. Yet the blind, indulgent fool remained oblivious to the crow's true desire. Still, the crow remained patient, for it had faith that an opportune moment would eventually come. The world beyond continued to change, deteriorating with each turn of the heavens, and the fool would return to the crimson nest for comfort time and time again. As the crow embraced them in the warmth of its wings, it knew that the world was moving in its favor. All it had to do was abide as it was, remaining as the universal constant in a vortex of uncertainty. In time, it caught sight of the cracks beginning to form and spread. It knew the time was nigh — thus did it drag the fool deeper into its embrace. The world beyond was naught but a passing dream, nothing to be concerned with — such assurances did its shrill song carry as it buried its prey in its ebon down. Until all worries, all fears, all doubts, and all bonds were pushed to the deepest, farthest recesses of memory. Only then did it fly the nest, with its iron talons and sharpened beak, to peck away at the cracked, fragile eggshell, scattering its crimson yolk across the soil. Smearing the greatest obstacle to its desires across the blackened earth, it returned to the nest singing of satisfaction, making no effort to conceal the mark of its deed. What it had just destroyed, what meaning it might have carried to the fool, mattered not in the crow's eyes, for such was never part of its world. So long as the fool had nothing to desire beyond the safety of the crimson nest and the comfort of its wings, the two could simply indulge each other forevermore — so it believed. Yet through the self-centered, monochrome lens of its worldview, it failed to consider what the fool truly desired. Seeing the damp crimson upon its wings, they tried to flee the nest, to slip free from its grasp and never come back. No matter how many temptations and sweet promises it offered, all were reciprocated with nauseated disgust. Their pristine, perfect haven had been contaminated with the harsh truth of the outside, a grave revelation that the fool could not ignore. The fool feared the change in the crow, while the crow's wildly beating heart spoke true, telling of how it had forever remained the very same since the beginning. In that moment was its true nature unmasked, along with the depths of its folly. What the crow viewed merely as a common pest was, to the fool, their greatest treasure, now damaged in a way that could never be undone. Thus did they fly the nest, against all the crow's desires, their paths fated to cross nevermore. I hope that [LUXURIA] was able to convey the twisted, obsessive desire of this character to you, and bring you some small sliver of enjoyment in the process. Please stay tuned for future releases.
