I keep replaying every moment
 Like there’s something I missed
Some small crack in the picture
 Some warning I skipped
The way you said my name like it mattered
Like it burned in your chest
 Was that truth—or rehearsal?
Was it all just a test? You said you saw your forever Right in the fire of my eyes So tell me when did honesty Start feeling like a lie So tell me—was that all pretend?
 Was I filling in space?
Was I just something keeping you warm
Until something better took my place? Because I trusted the silence
Between your breath and my skin
I trusted the words you spoke I let them burn within So tell me—was I imagining fire?
Was it only in me? Don’t tell me it was mercy And not once turn back to me You promised you’d stand in the flame with me You promised I wasn’t alone But you ran the second the future scared you And left me here holding smoke You said you saw me in your vision When your demons wouldn’t rest So you left me holding what we were Like a dagger against my chest. I thought pain made you careful
I thought fear made you true
I didn’t know you were capable
Of choosing to break me too you didn’t fade into shadow You faced me and still turned away You saw me breaking right in front of you And chose to walk anyway So tell me—was I imagining fire?
Was I the only one burned?
Did you take every part of me
And call it something you never returned?
You swore you weren’t like the others
You swore you’d never betray
So how does your voice still haunt me
When you’re the one who walked away?
I don’t cry—I combust
I don’t beg—I ignite
You don’t get to be my weakness
If you’re also the knife
If it was real, say it broke you
If it was fake, say it clean
But don’t leave me here wondering
If it was ever meant to be.
Was I imagining fire—
Or did you feel it too?
Did it scare you to death
When you realized it was true?
Because I would’ve burned worlds for you
I would’ve stood in the flame but you looked into my eyes and forgot you promised the same I don’t need your answers I don’t need your fear I survived the scars you left I’ll survive not thinking of you here
