[intro ] [Instrumental] [Verse ] It swept, it swept around the land As snow was swirling. A candle was burning on the desk, A candle burning. As swarms of midges in the dark To a fire flutter, Blew flakes of snow from the park ‘gainst window shutter. [Instrumental] [Verse ] The storm was drawing on the glass Small darts and circlings… A candle was burning on the desk, A candle burning The ceiling, lit up by the blaze Saw shadows tossing, Of crossing arms and crossing legs: A fateful crossing. [Instrumental] [Bridge] And to the floor, two little shoes Fell tapping lightly. And wax from night-light on your dress, Was dripping quietly. And all has vanished in the daze, Snow white and northern; A candle was burning on the desk, A candle burning [sample] [Verse ] The flame was flickered by the wind… The heat of desire Unfold, as an angel, its two wings With heart afire. It swept that month without rest Again and over, A candle was burning on the desk, A candle burning [Instrumental] [Outro] [end]
