Do you believe in unicorns? In the shade of a tree a hedgehog sat reading the tales of a Prince and his Rose. The birds flocked to listen, or so said the witness, a turtle with elegant pose. In this certain chapter, a Fox was the master, in teaching the Prince how to tame. How to calm one another, the patience of things, the rules of a delicate game. The hedgehog felt sad that the fox loved the lad, but the lad's heart was set on the Rose. Did he know he would play as that same fox some day, as his prince pricked herself on the thorns? The turtle was shy but his laugh caught her eye, and his spines hadn't fully grown in. His belly was soft when they talked in the loft and the space between them became thin. Time wasn't kind and their paths dis-entwined, though her shell shone in glitter and gold. The hedgehog was worried his spines were too scary and made him too painful to hold. Time showed some mercy, or Turtle got thirsty, and pulled on the strings of his heart. With a song of desire, to heal what transpired, and look for a new place to start… The hedgehog remembered the soft and the hard. His spines flared from caution of past efforts marred, but it was hard for him to know. When he folded his spines, she seemed disinclined, and into her shell she did go… Still part of the story in which all partake, as the Prince, the Fox, the Rose, or the Snake…
